I've heard next to nothing about Underwood. Anything noteworthy about his status or training camp performance so far?

Check-out the latest from Christl's blog on jsonline:

In there he mentions that Underwood and Collins were the safties for the 1st string defense and both did a great job.

"As a former cornerback, Collins breaks on the ball better than Underwood. But Underwood might pack a stronger punch. He drilled rookie receiver Terrence Murphy in an 11-on-11 red zone session and started a brief scuffle."

I dont see why people dont like Jenkins. He did so well last year.

And it looks like we might be starting 2 rookies at safety. That is ..exciting...and scary. There will be some growing pains there.

Manning playing with the first squad....thats interesting.

Sounds like Bates really likes Underwood and Collins. It would be nice if these two guys panned out. Guys who really bring the wood and are instinctive players too.

I can see one rookie starting- perhaps Collins but, two rookie Safties starting with NO pro experience spells too many blown assignments and rookie mistakes. That, IMO leads to more scores.

Neither Sharper nor Roman was within three or four steps of most receivers last season so no, there was no short-arming.
