When you and your family and loved ones gather after the festivities of Christmas to watch football, please cheer for Carolina to beat Atlanta, New Orleans to beat the Giants, Washington to beat St. Louis, AZ to beat the 49'ers, and Dallas to beat the Eagles on Monday Night.

Because:

Right now in the NFC

Chicago has clinched playoff position #1 (Home field throughout playoffs)
New Orleans is in playoff position #2 (first round bye) clinched their division

Dallas is in the playoffs currently in position #3 hosting a playoff game.

Seattle right now is in playoff position #4 but 49'ers could still win that division.
The Eagles now are in playoff position #5 and a road team for round 1.
The Giants in playoff position #6 with a better conference record than Falcons.
Atlanta in 7th loses a tiebreaker to the Giants.

Then Green Bay is in position #8 only one game behind the Giants and tied in conference record with Atlanta. (ignore Rams for now)
The 49'ers in position 9 lose tiebreaker to Packers. Beat Vikings head to head.
The Vikings are in playoff position #10 with tiebreaker over Carolina
Then Carolina
Then St Louis who lost to Carolina has the worst conference record here.

The rest are officially eliminated and/or unimportant.

The Vikings conference record is tied with the Giants right now so Thursday is important.

Hope and anticipation help make the season bright.

3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
5. Strength of victory.
6. Strength of schedule.
7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
9. Best net points in common games.
10. Best net points in all games.
11. Best net touchdowns in all games.

---Really, all we need is the Giants and Falcons to lose 1 out of the next 2 games and we sweep the Vikes and beat the Bears to secure a playoff spot.. Because our division record would be 5-1. And I believe the Falcons and Giants both already have lost 2 times in their respective divisions.

When you and your family and loved ones gather after the festivities of Christmas to watch football, please cheer for

1. New Orleans to beat the Giants (vital),

2. Carolina to beat Atlanta (important),

3. Washington to beat St. Louis (if they don't we depend on the queens),

4. AZ to beat the 49'ers (helpful),

5. Dallas to beat the Eagles on Monday Night (important).

Assign a finger and a thumb to each game and you can remember this on one hand.

Then Green Bay is in position #8 only one game behind the Giants and Falcons with a better conference record than Atlanta. If the Packers make it the playoff game will be in Dallas.

Hope and anticipation help make the season bright.
