Ain't that the truth. They may need to pay Walker and keep him at LT. At least they know what they've got, and they could do a lot worse.

Everyone else? Who knows? No consistency. Really surprised at least one other guy hasn't stepped up, although I'm kinda liking Rhyan at C.
Putting Belton in at RG was finally the right move. Rhyan at center has actually worked better than I expected. I didn't think that he had the smarts, and maybe he doesn't??, but Rhyan and Belton together on the right side is making a really good running combo. They need to work on pass pro, but at least getting the running game right is a step in the right direction.

Listening to some of the pundits, they still think that Jordan Morgan is a misfit at any position except LT. He's gotten valuable experience playing other positions this season and thankfully has stayed healthy. I think that they will let Walker go in the offseason and roll the dice with Morgan. We didn't draft him to sit on the bench. We knew that we need a new and cheaper option.

Stackhouse was a UDFA for a reason, but may start to find his groove as the season progresses. He needs experience. Brinson needs experience too but is already showing what he's got. I'm sort of impressed so far.
Primarily due to the perception he is one dimensional (lane stuffer) however it seems he worked his *** off and got a touch lighter or better distribution since college - still main ability is that but he’s been pushing that pocket far more than I assumed he would this early.

As for FA, a decent DT is gonna be easier to find in that second tier FA, and I mildly expect CB to be where we may spend money - however Gute will be gun shy after Hobbs not being close to hopes…

One thing I’d bet house on is FA signing of one or both positions to some extent…and long hard looks at guys for day2 of the draft

Agreed. Hate to see Wyatt go down. He has very quietly become a dominant force for the DL.

Brinson has showed promise as you note, and I have liked Stackhouse since Gluten got him as an UDFA. He certainly looks the part of a DT, and he has a great attitude. Gotta believe both of these guys will step up with Wyatt out.

I watched the Niners/Brows game yesterday. The Niners have been hurt on D by injuries, most notably Bosa and Warner. But there were some "no names" who stepped up big yesterday on D. (And yeah, Cleveland isn't an offensive powerhouse. They played well enough considering it was Sanders 2nd game as starter. I forget the Niners who stepped up on D.)

Some guys just need a chance. Well, here it is.

Agreed. I like the way Belton and Rhyan have played. The right side looks pretty solid right now, especially with Tom at RT having an All Pro season.

And you're probably right about Walker and Morgan. Let Walker go and save some $$$ (they'll need it with a number of guys due their first real contracts) and finally put Morgan in a spot he can call home at LT. That may be all he needs. Morgan has been moved around so much, it' been impossible to get a good read on his ability.

I would just like to see Love operate without the pressure he's been getting this year. Seems he rarely gets a clean pocket.

This will definitely be another thread, but all are needed and we don't have a first round pick. I'm sure that we will start restructuring contracts, but suspect that our FA moves are done besides 2nd and 3rd tier free agents.

Picking in the second round, the only question will be about BPA in any of our positions of need. I doubt that we'll find a good run stopper there, but who knows!
Yeah we are getting into this discussion a little early. It's mostly the uneven play of the OL that has us looking ahead, although I think the OL consistency issue is solvable, hopefully this season. They are playing better the last few weeks.

Finding a solid DT and CB in the offseason will be a challenge. We'll cross that bridge......

Meanwhile, bring on Da Bearz.
