I made an unusual post on my person blog today. I am not trying to get you to go there. If you do, I would like your feedback.

The piece is very well written, but it's hard for me to decide whether you're angry with him or sympathetic. Maybe both?

Sexual offenses, especially against minors, are very volatile topics. The laws exist for very good reasons, but sometimes the system gets a little overzealous in its pursuit of these "child molestors" and people get branded for life with a label that maybe they didn't deserve.

It sounds to me like you're hoping this is what happened to your friend.

Just the opposite. I'm glad he is labeled, I want to confront him. I am not really sympathetic, I am just being generous at this point. I plan to hammer on him hard.

OK, I think I understand now. But why would you want to do this? Do you feel... betrayed? Outraged? That somehow the "father-figure" you liked and respected turned out to be the worst kind of creep?

Not trying to psychoanalyze, here. I guess I just don't understand what you're expecting.

It was a long time ago. I want answers. It will make me feel better? I need more portfolio material? To clear the air. Closure perhaps. To set an example. To sensationalize my story ?

Thus the need for feedback. It is a special subject.

I suspect "closure" is closer to the truth than "sensationalism"... I hope you find it, my friend. I'd be interested in hearing what, if anything, comes from this. If you feel like sharing, PM me.

    Wow.
Were there more then one victim? The more that there were, the more you can be sure this guy was a predator. One is more then there should be of course, but i was wondering if more then one boy was molested.
The guy had the perfect set up to groom victims. Have a place where kids could do things they would never get away with at home. Build up a fake sense of him caring about them. It's very possible you were being groomed for exploitation too. Did he show you porn at his house? Thats something predators do to get their victims in "the mood". It sets them up for the final assualt.
Ir IS true as since69 wrote, that sometimes a person is wrongfully labeled because of the sex predator laws. But if this guy was doing what he was said to do, theres no doubt he's a predator.
Back in the 1980's we had a guy at our church. He had a professional sound system and would sing gospel songs. He had a beautiful voice. But every time i was around him, i got a very uneasy feeling, that something wasn't right. Everyone just LOVED the guy. He would baby sit for families all the time. Now, my feeling is that the Holy Spirit was the one telling me something was wrong with this man. Thats my feeling.
Well, turns out several years later i see him in the Milwaukee Journal, that he had been arrested for molesting children. I think he's still in prison. I wrote to one of the familys that he baby sat for, to let them know what i had seen, so they could talk to their kids to see if he did anything to them.
I never got a reply though, so i don't know what did or did not happen.
Kids can be scarred for life by one of these creeps.
You have given him a chance to tell his side of the story.....if there really is one.
So....he's a author? What did he write about? Just wondering.

    Ok....just wondered.
Like i said, one is too many.
I just wish i could see the evidence in the case. False accusations are made all the time. If i could see what proof there was, i could better choose what feelings to have on the case.
I don't like to find anyone guilty, or for that matter innocent if i don't have all the facts.
I guess i would be good on a jury.

He was convicted of 2nd degree sexual assault (16 year old boy). He eventually admitted doing it, just never to me. He spent almost a decade in prison. There was no need for a jury he pled guilty.

Oh....then i guess he IS a guilty scum bag. That answered the question very well.
My feelings are, if he pled guilty, i bet he did so to keep others from coming forward. If he had a jury trial, i bet others would have come forward to make SURE he didn't get away with it.
Of course thats just my speculation, i don't know if it's right or not. Just my gut feeling. I hope there only WAS one victim. But i bet others just didn't want to come forward to face the embarrassment that seems to follow with these kinds of cases.
