I was scooting around youtube for different stuff on the Packers and our rivals, and came across the I Love My Green Bay Packers song, the Go Pack GO chant (which I love live, but not so much the recorded studio version). And I have to say, I cannot endorse the "I Love My Green Bay Packers" anthem. It reminds me of the sort of "Do the Hokey Polk" fare that they would play at preschool. It is rather effeminate, to say the least. Now at the Kettle of Fish, they play it every time the Pack scores. So on a Pavlovian level, I associate it with some very good memories. But I sitll do not like it. We need something aggressive, masculine, something that intimidates opposing players and fans alike, that is epic and proud. I am not sure whether we need something inspired by a bad boy personage akin to the Raiders or something, with the effect of hardcore metal with cookie monster vocals, a la Henry Rollins or Rammstein. I would love something in the hyper-aggressive, militant style of Funker Vogt, but that would be even less marketable to US audiences, particularly in the Midwest. Perhaps a better idea is something modeled after the Bears Fight Song, which I actually like a lot. I guess given the mostly respectful rivalry that exists (as opposed to the pernicious hatred I feel for the Vikings defined by gnashing of teeth and homicidal rage), that should not be a surprise.
