My silly thoughts as March Madness is about to start. #8- TE- possibly have Lewis, Degueara, Daffney & Davis. Go after a free agent whose team did not pick up their 5th year option that they feel fits into MLF system and the 4 best guys make the roster. Rodgers does not throw to the TE anyway. 2 yrs. ago Tonyan had a big surprise year. Why were his numbers so good? Because he got them with few receptions and targets. Very low target rate even while being successful. 7. S- both starters are back and the depth is average at best. As we get farther along average depth looks pretty good. A late round pick and a cheap vet pick-up hoping one sticks. Last year Yiacom was as bad as Rasul was good. Keep throwing darts. 6. Edge- both starters back. Depth is average at best. A late round pick + throw a few darts at vet minimum guys. Smith was a flop but Mercilus was good until injured. Again hoping one sticks. 5. ILB- assuming both starters are back. Depth is below average. Middle round pick and hope to get lucky again with a vet. Need at least one to stick. 4. DL- both starters back. At this point I would keep Lancaster. Depth is below average but Slaton could change that. Middle rounder plus throw darts at a vet or 2. 3. WR- MVS (starter is gone) needs to be replaced. Middle round pick and a vet FA. 2. OT-This is the wildcard. Depending on Bakh and Jenkins health this could move all the way to #6. I am taking the glass half empty approach. I also believe Menet will be the back up C and Hansen PS. Yosh needs to be tendered. Runyan and Newman should improve. Meyers is solid. Need a day 1 contributor in the early rounds. Plus a D. Kelly type (or D. Kelly himself) 1. CB- IN today's NFL 3 CBs are starters. We have 2 with awful depth. Has to be an early round pick. I consider early rounds 1 & 2. Middle rounds 3-4-5. Late rounds 6-7. When talking about free agent vets I am speaking of guys that would make the veteran minimum. Hopefully they clear enough cap space to sign one more impact free agent but that will be tough.
