The two-year contract extension that Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver signed last week will pay him $9.6 million in 2011 and 2012.

Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that Driver’s income for this year is virtually unchanged. He was to make $6.8 million this season and with the revised numbers he’ll collect $7 million.

Driver can earn $4.8 million in 2011 with $4.1 million in salary and a signing bonus of $700,000 that is due on the first day of training camp. In 2012, he will also earn $4.8 million with $2.6 million coming in base salary and the remainder in a roster bonus. There are also incentives that go as high as $1.8 million in the deal that are based on performance.

If Driver, 36, continues to perform at the same level – he’s made 70 or more catches in seven of the last eight seasons – he’ll have no problem collecting those salaries in the coming seasons. In fact, he’ll be a good value for the Packers.
