So, I'm watching the Chiefs / Dolphins game on ESPN as I'm typing this. After watching the game for no more then 10 mins, I saw Martin drop a perfectly thrown pass and TOTALLY miss a huge block on a 4th and goal play for a touchdown, resulting in a turnover on downs.

Bottom line . . . I'm thinking we won't miss him too much, although, we definitely don't have anything better. No break out season for Martin, judging from this game.

I don't wish him any bad luck, but he was an expensive tease with us. Guys like him, and now Fergy, are best gone. Bubba should be next as he has lost his blocking and hands. Slowly but surely, the dead wood is getting tossed.

D-Mart will always be Da Man in my eyes, say what you like about him but if he was still here he'd be the no1 TE. :D

We will NOT miss him.

I always wondered why a lot of broadcasters listed Martin as a major
loss during the FA-period for the Packers. They truely had short memories
and didn't take a look at his production.
I did!!!

In every training-camp Martin had some big moments, only to suck during
regular-season. We don't need that. We have enough TEs that s...,
uuuhm are a bit of a work in progress.

The guy reminded me a lot more of Tyrone Davis than he did Keith Jackson. What's sad is that he would still have a roster spot on our team if he were still here.

I'm hoping we can pluck at TE out of Indianapolis for a DT and put this nightmare behind us.

And the tombstone would read:

Here lies a RB who was startin'
because of the blocking
of a tightend named Martin

The guy blocks like my sister.

He was a lot like Tyrone Davis in some ways. They were both wide receivers in college who became tight ends in the pros, but as they bulked up and became good blockers, they lost their receiving skills. Both had physical problems. For Davis, it was a failure to get into good playing shape. For Martin, it was injuries.

Martin is a good example of how a lot of journalists tend to overrate players who switch teams in free agency. Had Martin stayed with the Packers, he barely would've been mentioned as an asset to the team, and for good reason. He never contributed much. But because he was a free agent who went to another team, he was regarded by some people as a significant addition to the Dolphins.

One writer even said Martin was going to have a breakout season because Trent Green used to throw to his TE, Tony Gonzalez, in KC a lot, so he would be throwing to Martin a lot in Miami. If you can follow that line of reasoning, you have a better imagination than I do .
