I hear a lot of people wanting to blow the top off the D and hit the home run every play. I view receivers and offense as a whole in a much different way. I love nothing more than a reliable, tough guy that can make all the catches and most importantly, MOVE THE CHAINS! The game of football is based upon possession. Therefore by definition is a possession WR not worth his weight in gold? Don't get me wrong I love the 60 yard bomb as much as the next guy but I am a lover of consistency and knowing what you have. Look at a guy like Ted Ginn or a guy that is no longer in the league, Ashley Lelie. You look at their line come games end and they have 60-75 yards...on one catch. There are so many guys with this blazing speed that have either stone hands, can't run a route to save their lives or can't get off a LOS jam. Yes, they will pop a "big one" every now and then but 100 out of 100 times I want the guy who is boring as hell, "slow" and can't go deep (other than a double move) yet always make the grab for 11 on 3rd and 9. I have 3 words that drive D's crazy and win you games, move the chains. It's just that simple. Move the friggin chains. Speed is so overrated and I just don't get it. Jordy, Jennings, hell Antonio Freeman were not very fast but they do/did one thing every time they stepped on the field. Produced. I am in the production business and I would take the guy who shows up every day, works his tail off and makes all the plays needed to win a game over the guy who may get lucky once or twice a week and deliver with a bomb. Call me old school but as I keep saying there is still a place for consistency and boring, slower wideouts who produce...no matter how boring it may be to some of you. Also, I would give my pinky and a kidney to be able to run a 4.5 or so and be deemed slow. When you think about it, it just highlights how special these athletes truly are. [QUOTE="SoonerPack, post: 554440, member: 9838"] I have never understood the apparent disappointment with a "possession receiver." I hear a lot of people wanting to blow the top off the D and hit the home run every play.
