That stinks those are really expensive to, one thing that I have learned is to not buy big items from target they have a 90 day return policy and believe me they stand by it. We purchased an expensive vacuum from Target and it was exactly one day over their return policy, I called and spoke to a Manager and he said that we couldnt return it, it did have a one year warranty on it so we took it to have it fixed, well we have done this like 4 times already and we bring it back home and still dont work. They will not let us even exchange it. They did extend the warranty for us for another year, meaning we have to keep taking it to get it fixed which is an hour in good traffic away.

Some stores will let you return things without a reciept and they dont have a 90 day policy. I from now on will go to one of those places to buy any future items incase we have problems with it.

Good luck to you Josh, you can try and take it back. Let me know what happens.

it has a 1 year warranty from apple, so if you are unable resurrect it
go here to set up a warranty claim.

Totally off topic, but I am a music fan, what song crapped it out?

It would be totally freaky if it was "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey and it had a Soprano thing going on.

thanks for reminding me, kanata... Josh, when you get the ipod fixed, remove the song that crapped your ipod from your computer. the file may be corrupt. that happened to me. a few corrupt files bricked 4 ipods.

Do you have Mac store nearby? I haven't lived in Houston in years so I couldn't tell you.

If you take it in, they'll look at it. I've had nothing but good experiences with the good folks who work there.

Hedder.............if that happened to me, i would INSIST on a replacement. After 2 times in the shop, i would tell them it's faulty, and if they don't REPLACE it call the better business bureau. Also, if you have a TV station that does "attacks" on bum companies, contact them and tell them how they keep giving you the run around. Tell how you have to keep taking it back, and how much gas money it costs you.
Try all those approaches and see if it helps! You'd be surprised how a little bad publicity can make them change FAST!

take it in. if they deem it unfixable, they'll give you a replacement on the spot.

ok maybe just maybe I am in luck. I called my wifey and she said that she plugged the ipod into the computer and it said "charging" which is good news since it was stuck on a song for about 9 hours straight

first off, go through the "5 R's" that LongtimeFan posted. If those don't do the trick, you're best off to just take it to the apple store and let them deal with it, and save yourself the hassle. Also, remember, up until one calendar year after your date of purchase, you can buy "Apple Care" which extends your warranty an extra two years.

You can buy Apple Care directly from Apple

and you can also get a good deal on Apple Care if you buy it from ebay

and if you buy it from ebay, make sure it is the one for "ipod classic or touch". It is a worthwhile investment.

Also, if you want to try and resurrect the ipod on your own before taking it to the apple store, the apple ipod classic support forum is a great place to get help from others with similar problems and lots of ipod knowledge.

I have called so many people and they just give me the run around, I have not tried the better business bureau though maybe I should look into that. Thanks Cheesy, it was just very frustrating. I thought Target would take it back, even if it was one day over the limit, but no. But thanks for your help. Will look into it further.
