The comfort inn works. It's a clean hotel. Right off the highway on Oneida.



Grazies, which has declined in past few years quality-wise, but it's okay.
Margaritas up on Lombardi is solid. I have a few clients that like to go there for lunch.

Drive up Oneida more by lambeau and go to Tom **** and Harrys, Anduzzis, or "The Bar" Go north on Oneida and turn right on Potts.


Oh, go to Curlys pub inside Lambeau on Friday/Saturday. Trying to get service there on gameday is impossible.

Go to Curly's AFTER a game and have a few drinks or a meal..Then when your done after about 90 minutes, parking lot is empty and its a easy exit

PRE-SEASON ACTIVITIES

PACKERS TRAINING CAMP - Call ahead or check the web site for practice times. Practices are closed to the public as the regular season gets closer. Many Packer fans live for Training Camp; it's something all Packer fans should experience at least once.

AUTOGRAPGH SESSIONS - Fans will have access to Packers during training camp for autographs,but you must obtain a ticket. Tickets will be given out by police officers in the morning. Call ahead for details.

PACKERS EXPERIENCE - Located across the street from the Don Hutson Center in the Brown County Exposition Center. Closes once the regular season starts.

REGULAR or PRE-SEASON ACTIVITIES

PACKER HALL OF FAME - Experience the history and glory.

LAMBEAU FIELD TOURS - Open 9:00AM to 6:00PM. Lambeau Field tours start at 9:30AM. Tours can sell out rather quickly on peak days so get there early to get a tour, especially on weekends. No tours on game days. Call ahead for times and schedules; available tours can vary and usually only during the Spring/Summer. (No tours available during the construction/renovation).

PACKER PRO SHOP - Located inside the atrium with a smaller store on the west side in the concourse. They have the usual merchandise but there is some neat stuff and collectables that you normally don't find at K-Mart.

GAME DAYS

TAILGATING - Bring a grill and fire it up or just wander through the crowd and join the party. The people and the atmosphere almost make you forget there's a game. You won't see anything like it at any other stadium.

BROWN COUNTY EXPOSITION CENTER - (Regular season only). Located south of the Packer Hall of Fame. It's open to the public and there's vendors, food, and a band. Good place to hang out for a while and sit or get warm if it's late in the year. Or cool off if it's hot.

TICKETS - There's a little section east of Lambeau Field (across the street) where it's legal to buy and sell tickets. If you don't care about money you can easily get a ticket from the scalpers. Normal people who want to get rid of extra tickets also come here so you might get a better deal from them. If you're not a seasoned horse trader, don't expect any miracles. Personally, I would prefer you avoid the scalpers and not give them any business if it's possible. If you don't want to deal with scalpers, the call Packer Fan Tours at 1-800-851-PACK or see their web site at www.packerfantours.com. They won't be cheap, but they're officially endorsed by the Green Bay Packers and they'll treat you better than the typical ticket broker.

PACKER-RELATED SITES AROUND GREEN BAY

FUZZY'S - Owned by "Fuzzy" Thurston, one of the Packer greats from the Glory Years. Full of memorabilia and you might run into Fuzzy the night before a game. Located at 2511 W. Mason Street.

GLORY YEARS PUB - 321 S. Washington St. Bar and restaurant where VINCE LOMBARDI used to have hs business office. Sit down and have a cool one in the same room where Vince himself ran the Packers.

KROLL'S WEST RESTAURANT - 1990 S. Ridge Road. Packer fans swear that this is the only place to go for a hamburger this side of the Rockies. True Americana at its best.

CURLEY LAMBEAU'S GRAVE - On Highway 57 at the Allouez Catholic Cemetary. Located more or less in the southeast corner of the property. The grave itself has a SMALL, modest marker. There is a larger, upright stone that merely says "LAMBEAU" which can help you in locating the family section. From the main maintenance building, go east and stay even (well, a little north, but almost even) with the north side of the structure.

TITLETOWN BREWING COMPANY - This is the old C&W train station where the Packers used to embark for away games. It was also the celebration point when the Packers returned from victorious games and championships. Word has it that the restaurant is a good one and you should try the Johnny Blood Red Ale, named for another Packer Great, Johnny "Blood" McNally.

PACKER CITY ANTIQUES - 1920 Marlee Lane. Full of eclectic "old stuff" and Packer memorabilia. It's not very big, but they should charge admission just to come in to look at all the neat stuff. They have a web site: www.packercityantiques.com

VINCE LOMBARDI'S HOME - Drive along Sunset Circle and it'll be the red brick ranch home with the green and gold fire hydrant. It's in a nice, quiet neighborhood and you'll feel like you're invading the place, but a man once drove in from Utah and asked if he could just step inside for a moment. The owners invited the stranger in for dinner. A group of students drove from Ohio and asked permission to play football on the lawn. You won't find a place more humble and charming, but please, remember real people live here, OK?

WEST LAKESIDE PARK - While the structures are all gone, this is the location of the Rockwood Lodge and practice field for the Packers during the 1940's.

REGGIE WHITE'S PRO SHOP - 3 blocks west of Lambeau Field on Lombardi Drive. You won't see it from the road, it's back a bit in the strip mall there. Packer clothing and autographed items are the main venue.

STEVE'S FENCE - On the north side of Lambeau Field across the street you'll see the green and gold fence on Lombardi Avenue. Every year the owner brainstorms with friends and neighbors to paint a clever message on the fence. It has become a Green Bay icon.

BRETT FAVRE'S STEAKHOUSE - Located at 1004 Brett Favre Pass. Just find the Stadium View bar to the east of Lambeau Field and you'll find the restaurant. There's a small gift shop inside and the restaurant itself is probably one of the best places to go for a steak in Green Bay.

BELLVUE PARK - Home to the Packers in 1923 and 1924.

CURLEY LAMBEAU'S HOME - 1205 Cherry Street.

STADIUM SPORTS AND ANTIQUES - The people who run this store wrote the book on Packer memorabilia. Literally! They did publish a price guide of Packer goodies and have many items for sale. Great place to browse through. Located at 2041 Holmgren Way.

EAST HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL FIELD - The Packers used to play here.

SKIP'S PLACE - 2052 Homgren Way. RAY NITSCHKE was a frequent customer here and his counter stool was retired after his death. If you hate the food chains and love the Mom and Pop diners, then you have to eat here. The chocolate malts are really good. (NOTE: I heard the name of the restaurant has changed).

DAMON'S - 909 Plymrock Terrace (Oneida and Hwy 172). There's a replica of the Superbowl XXXI goalpost here.

For those visiting Green Bay during golf season, you must try Brown County Public golf course. It has always been rated in the top 100 public golf courses in the United States.....if you hit it in the woods, count yourself lucky if you get a double bogey. I have played golf around the world and this course remains my favorite.

If you have young kids, take them to Bay Beach, they have rides for young children that cost 10 cents in 1960 and still cost 10 cents.

A popular place in the old days for visiting Packer opponents was Chili Johns.....chili as mild or hot as you want....but they put spaghetti noodles in their chili....so unless that turns you on order without noodles!

I was going to give you a must see bar/restaurant called Glory Days, it is Vince Lombardi's office when he was coach of the Packers, remolded into a restaurant but the desk he worked at was there. Sorry, they have gone out of business.

PARKING

When coming to a game, I always get great parking close to the stadium on or near St. Agnes Drive which is north-west of the stadium. It's only 2 or 3 blocks from the Atrium and costs $10 or less to park in someone's yard. (Although it costs more a little closer in.) I've never had a problem getting in or out. Note, however, that many of these off-street yards do not allow tailgaiting.

Just giving some general advice, most hotels in GB require a 2 night stay minimum which is pretty standard, and if you are trying to find something cheaper than the going rates for a weekend (Since they do charge more on Packer Weekends) Appleton has plenty of options and usually don't have the two night stay minimum. And it is best to book directly with the hotel than online, hotels usually match what is online and in my experience are more flexible about changes if you book with them than online.

Got a little travel tip for Milwaukee games..That is if you are actually drive back South to Milwaukee..

How ever you get out from where you were parked, try to get to Ashland Ave that runs parallel to Oneida and is a few blocks east of Oneida..

I have a GPS that I have direct me from here, so will try to figure it out..But I have it set to avoid highways..And two times now this year, it took me the same way and the drive was only 2:15 mins from time getting in my car till I got home..It is only about an extra 20 mins, and you avoid ALL (and I mean ALL) traffic going to 172, and 41-45

Go South on Ashland and continue to go south..The rest is from Mapquest

Many of the yard options behind Krolls are excellent. Over the past 5 years I have been going to the same house and have gotten to know the owners well. Many of these houses will treat you like family and provide a far better social experience than tailgating on your own. A walk through the main parking lot once is a lot of fun, as is the bar scene, but once you've been there and done that something a little more personal as I've described is a far more "authentic" experience.

Since I rarely tailgate, I usually park on a city street 2-3 blocks north of the stadium. After the game, Ridge and Oneida are one way four lanes north to Mason St. From there I go east across the bridge going through downtown. Relatively lightly used route. Keep going on Mason until you get either to Monroe, Main, or I-43 depending on your destination. If you go west on Mason you can get to 41 relatively quick.

By the time your read this it will be too late. Actually they really never fill up. The later you are, the farther you walk (and the less you pay.)
