Packers' defensive coordinator Dom Capers was Carolina's first head coach in expansion in 1995. In just their second year he had them in the NFC title game against Green Bay and was voted NFC Coach of the Year.
Packers' defensive line coach Mike Trgovac was a Carolina assistant for 7 years and was the Panthers dc for 6 before joining the Packers.
The Panthers signed the Packers all-pro LG Mike Wahle in free agency in 2005.
The Packers lost all-pro safety Nick Collins to a career ending neck injury in the Week 2 game at Carolina in 2011.
Former Packers' outside linebackers coach Kevin Greene played 3 of his 15 Hall of Fame seasons with the Panthers, including 1996 when they faced the Packers in the NFC Championship Game.
Julius Peppers played the first seven years of his career as a monster defensive end for Carolina.

Panthers' head coach Ron Rivera is no stranger to a rivalry with the Packers. He played for the Bears and was their defensive coordinator for 3 years. He played on the 1985 Chicago Super Bowl winning team and dc'ed their defense when they went to the Super Bowl again in 2006.
