He was an amazing man, whose philanthropy was amazing. Even the millions he gave to UW for the building of the Kohl Center in Madison. The list is endless. He and Proxmire are the only two Senators that I can remember in the modern history of Wisconsin who filed to run for Senator with the $100 payment, and never campaigned and still won by a landslide. Herb was far and away the ultimate Wisconsinite. Hopefully, centuries from now, Wisconsinites will remember his name as one of the great leaders in Wisconsin.</blockquote>
