[QUOTE="Thirteen Below, post: 1066470, member: 18006"] The deeper we get into the second half of the season, the more apparent it becomes how well managed this organization is - both on the field, and in the office upstairs. The roster moves the team is making just come up three "7"s time and time again, and it's not luck. It's easy to see why Matt Arnold was named Executive of The Year last year. He's built the hottest team in baseball with roughly 1/3 of the payroll of the big market teams. And NL Manager of The Year Pat Murphy seems to have captured lightning in a bottle with that roster. They're 60-44 in their last 104 games (.750), the fastest they've ever gotten 25 games over .500, have the best record in baseball, and tonight will probably be the first MLB team to win 70 games - the first time they've ever done that. This is the best stretch of baseball the Brewers have ever played. Murphy seems to have the perfect personality and approach for this team. He knows what each player can do, and what they can't do, and he seems to know exactly how to utilize them and how to motivate them. This team has weaknesses (lack of power, for one thing), but Milwaukee is 5th in runs scored despite being 23rd in home runs, 20th in triples, and 25th in doubles. But his players know how to get on base (9th in hits), and they know what to do when they get on base. That's Murphy's doing. That awful March and first half of April seems like years ago now.
