I see 6 with the freeking Cards though. Nice uniforms bt I hate that team..

The "good news", we don't see the Cards until 9/12 and they are already 16.6 games out in the standings. I predict that by then, they will be further out and will be thinking more about 2026 than their remaining games.

"Toughest" series ahead, in order and all are 3 game series:

- Jays
- Phillies
- Padres

Good news on the Jackson Chourio front. Sounds like he is fully healed and will test things out tonight in Nashville, when he takes the field for the Sounds.

**Note: Is there a name for a sentence that starts and ends with the same word, but the word has 2 different meanings in the sentence?

Agree and probably to try and draw more fans than 2 single games combined would draw.

Do they even open the season with double headers on the schedule anymore? I don't think so, but I could be wrong. I think they only occur after a previous game has been postponed due to weather or

I recall an actual scheduled doubleheader on opening day 1971 in Oakland with the A's and White Sox. Cannot figure Charlie Finley opting for that.

Yikes, SS Joey Ortiz has a hamstring issue. He is having an MRI done today to assess it. This is the weakest depth spot for the Brewers. I'm thinking maybe Monasterio will step in for him, but has nowhere near the ability Ortiz has as a defender.

Anyone think Willie Adames was making a statement yesterday? He single handedly - well maybe a little help from Megill - kept the Giants in the game until Contreres made all things right. Good thing too - Cubs aren't going away. They won as well and are still only 7 games back with 33 to go.

It was definitely the Adames-Contreras show yesterday! Both players had great nights and ultimately, Contreras had the final say with his walk-off homer.

With Joey Ortiz out for a bit, would love if the Giants could leave Adames behind and let him finish the season as a Brewer.

Adames is a classic example of why MLB needs a true cap system. Adames wanted to stay in Milwaukee and was willing to take a smaller deal to do so. However, there was no way the Brewers were going to come anywhere close to the 7 yr. $182M deal that the Giants ultimately gave him.

After last night's outing -- someone needs to get the word out to the Cubbies that their pursuit of the Crew is and shall remain futile.... grrrr....

Someone also needs to remind the Giants that they are all but eliminated from the playoffs, so todays road game against the Crew is meaningless. However, the Giants should also be reminded that it would be a good idea for them to go home and sweep the Cubbies in their next 3 games, you know, for their fans enjoyment. :coffee:

This is the time of year where Strength of Schedule can really impact games. The MLB baseball season is a long grind, teams that are eliminated from contention are much easier opponents for playoff hopeful teams to defeat.

Given the Brewers remaining schedule is tougher than the Cubs, the Crew can't afford to lose too many games in the next month.

Man, are the Cubs a bunch of cork soaking bastiges or what? :whistling:

Another reason the Giants need to phone in todays game....it's Ueck's Celebration of Life Day! This is one game that I really want a W! Luis Matos has just been killing the Brewers during this 3 game stretch. So far he has 5 hits in 10 AB's. 2 HR's and 2 doubles.

Brewers up 3-2 going into the 8th inning, time to get 6 straight outs.

Hopefully they can get it together soon. This stretch of games with no off days is gassing the team out.

Yeah, this is rough. They don't get a day off until September 2nd, by which time they will have played 20 games in 19 days. In their last 8 games, they're 3-5.

Whoa... that was a close call. Blow a 6 run lead on consecutive nights only to win in the 9th... yikes and gazook.

They sure don't know how to give us a night off from heart attacks! Twice it felt like we were cruising to an easy win and boom....they let those pesky snakes get back in it.

The bullpen has been struggling as of late and last night, it was pretty well out of gas going into that 9th inning.

What is up with our
starting pitchers looking pretty good and then they get to 70+ pitches and get shelled?

Help is on its way!

Sounds like the Brewers should be bringing back Chourio, Ortiz and Hoskins around the 1st of September. That is an infusion of some solid batting and fielding. Barring anymore injuries, if the Bullpen can get their act together, Sept. should go really well for the Crew.

Should make the postseason exciting. If you ever want to watch a roller coaster baseball game see Game 7 of the 1960 WS.

I would, except that I hate excitement. I LOVE domination. :whistling: ...and I'll let it go at that. Speaking of domination... the Giants took care of business for the Crew.

Uggg.....another injury and probably even bigger than losing Chourio.....Brewers closer Trevor Megill was put on the 15 Day DL with a right elbow flexor strain. Some are saying it isn't looking good for Megill and he may not be back this season.

That is just a huge blow for the Crew to lose their All-Star closer. Megill was having a great year with 30 saves, 2.54 ERA and 2.56 FIP across 46 innings of work, averaging 11.3 strikeouts per nine.

Guessing that Abner Uribe will assume the role as closer, but then the Brewers need to replace him as their set-up man.

More bad news, but some good news too.

Brewers announced that standout rookie Pitcher, Logan Henderson, has been transferred over to the 60-Day Injured List, ending his regular season.

Brewers also announced that Jackson Chourio will be added back to the roster and join the Brewers in Toronto for the Jays series. Great timing to get arguably their best offensive weapon back!

While the strength of remaining schedule may not favor the Brewers over the Cubs and other NL teams that they are competing with, the calendar schedule does seem to give the Brewers an edge. The Brewers will get 4 days off during Sept. They and a few other teams are the only ones to get that many rest days. The Cubs, will get 3.

Also, the way the end of the schedule falls, the Brewers could enter an opportune time to rest pitchers/players to set the table for their playoff starter rotation.
