I don't know if it came from the link above, but I read this on the PFT website: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...-he-shares-some-blame-for-split-with-packers/
Of course, Favre wanting to stay in the NFC North was something the Packers objected to, and refused to go along with.

“I felt like I wasn’t good enough to play there [Green Bay] but was good enough to not play against them,” Favre said, “and that bothered me.”
Maybe he's revised his feelings in retrospect, but it does show another side to the entire situation. Maybe he wasn't trying to "stick it to Thompson" but in true Favre form wanted to prove that he could do something that he was told he couldn't do. I'm sure TJV will pull out a litany of Favre quotes that he was out to screw TT, but it's still one more piece of the puzzle. This still the story of a scorned lover.

I'd say it's both.

Interview with Greta Van Susteren

Do I play somewhere else? That remains to be seen, but I don't want to go back there just to stick it to 'em.

Part of me coming back last year, I have to admit now, was sticking it to Ted," Favre told SI.com in February.
