Daboll was named AP Coach of the Year after his first season. <strong>Overall record: 20-40, 1-1 playoffs</strong></p><p></p><p><u><strong>"Black Monday" Firings:</strong></u></p><p><strong>Kevin Stefanski, Cleveland Browns</strong></p><p>Stefanski was fired after six seasons with the Browns.</p><p>He went 11-5 in 2020, their first winning season since 2007 and their best finish since 1999. He went 1-1 in the playoffs this season, beating the Steelers before losing to the Chiefs. Following this, he went 8-9, 7-10, 11-6, 3-14, and 5-12. In 2023 (11-6) they made the playoffs but lost to the Texans. He is the first Browns coach to lead the team to multiple postseason appearances since Marty Schottenheimer, and had recently received a contract extension in 2024. Stefanski is a two-time AP Coach of the Year, winning in 2020 and 2023. <strong>Overall record: 45-56, 1-2 playoffs. </strong></p><p><strong></strong></p><p><strong>Raheem Morris, Atlanta Falcons</strong></p><p>After Dan Quinn was fired following an 0-5 start, Morris was made interim HC of the Falcons in 2020. He finished that season 4-7 before joining the Rams as DC for the next couple of seasons. He was ultimately brought back as HC of the Falcons in 2024 and finished 8-9 in both 2024 and 2025. <strong>Overall record: 4-7 (interim), 16-18 (permanent). No playoff appearances. </strong>(Morris was technically fired on Sunday albeit after their season concluded)</p><p></p><p><strong>Pete Carroll, Las Vegas Raiders</strong></p><p>Carroll was fired after just one season with the Raiders, finishing 3-14 and "earning" the #1 pick in the draft. <strong>Overall record: 3-14, no playoff appearances</strong></p><p></p><p><u><strong>Safe for 2026:</strong></u></p><p><strong>Zac Taylor, Cincinnati Bengals</strong></p><p>The team announced today that both Taylor and Duke Tobin (GM...basically) would be returning in 2026. <strong>Overall record: 52-63, 5-2 playoffs. </strong></p><p><strong></strong></p><p><strong>Shane Steichen, Indianapolis Colts</strong></p><p>The Colts announced shortly after their loss to the Texans that both Shane Steichen and GM Chris Ballard would return in 2026. <strong>Overall record: 25-26, no playoff appearances.</strong></p><p><strong></strong></p><p><strong><u>On the "Hot Seat":</u></strong></p><p><strong><s>Jonathan Gannon, Arizona Cardinals</s></strong></p><p><s>Has finished 4-14, 8-9, and 3-14, ending this season on a 9-game losing streak. But rumors suggest he is "likely safe". </s><strong><s>Overall record: 15-36, no playoff appearances</s></strong></p><p><strong><em>Also fired on 1/5/26.</em></strong></p><p><strong></strong></p><p><strong>Todd Bowles, Tampa Bay Buccaneers</strong></p><p>Bowles' Buccaneers won three straight NFC South crowns from 2022-2024, but finished this season 8-9 and failed to make the playoffs. Rumors are also suggesting he will most likely return. <strong>Overall record: 35-33, 1-3 playoffs. </strong></p><p><strong></strong></p><p><strong><s>Mike McDaniel, Miami Dolphins</s></strong></p><p><s>McDaniel is another coach for which the rumors suggest he's "likely safe". He's finished 9-8, 11-6, 8-9, and 7-10 this year. Midway through the season it was looking like he was dead in the water (started off 2-7) but ended up finishing the year on a 5-3 run which might have saved him. </s><strong><s>Overall record: 35-32, 0-2 playoffs.</s> Fired on 1/8/26</strong></p><p><strong></strong></p><p><strong><s>John Harbaugh, Baltimore Ravens</s></strong></p><p><s>Harbaugh is the second-longest tenured coach in the league (18 years) and has been one of the most successful, too, with a Super Bowl win, an AFC Championship, 6 AFC North championships, 12 playoff appearances, and a 2019 Coach of the Year award. The chatter is that at bare minimum we can expect significant "coordinator changes" in Baltimore but Harbaugh may not be spared, either. Like some other teams there is a sense that Harbaugh is a good coach who hasn't been able to get them over the hump in recent years, and I think many would argue that Lamar Jackson is being "wasted". Since winning the Super Bowl in 2012, they have just 4 playoff wins. </s><strong><s>Overall record: 180-113, 13-11 playoffs</s> Fired 1/6/26</strong></p><p><strong></strong></p><p><strong>Aaron Glenn, New York Jets</strong></p><p>Glenn was felt to be one of the best coordinators in the league by many during his time in Detroit and he ended up landing a head coaching position with the Jets this past season. It has not gone particularly well, finishing 3-14. The Jets also finished with a unique record of being the only team in NFL history (since tracking began in 1933) to finish a season without a single interception. Still, he is well-liked in New York, and reports are that he is "almost certain" to return. <strong>Overall record: 3-14, no playoff appearances.</strong></p><p><strong></strong></p><p><strong>Mike Tomlin, Pittsburgh Steelers</strong></p><p>There were a lot who felt that the loser of the Ravens-Steelers playoff-decider would be in trouble; Tomlin in all likelihood is now safe after earning a 13th postseason berth in 19 seasons. Tomlin is the longest-tenured coach in the league and has won 1 Super Bowl, 2 AFC Championships, and 8 AFC North championships. <strong>Overall record: 193-114, 8-11 playoffs</strong></p><p><strong></strong></p><p><strong>Sean McDermott, Buffalo Bills</strong></p><p>McDermott finds himself in a similar situation to some other largely successful coaches - a guy who has been very successful but not been able to get over the hump. McDermott is seen as likely safe but some reports are suggesting if things go poorly in the playoffs he could be in some hot water. There is a feeling that things are shaping up nicely for Buffalo (No Mahomes, no Jackson) and ownership could get awfully impatient if they don't make a good run, given the circumstances. McDermott has been wildly successful overall, making the playoffs in 8 out of 9 seasons in charge and collecting 5 AFC East titles, but has yet to make a Super Bowl appearance. <strong>Overall record: 98-50, 7-7 playoffs.</strong></p><p></p><p>And of course, last but not least...</p><p></p><p><strong><strong>Matt LaFleur, Green Bay Packers</strong></strong></p><p>Obviously, you know this one. Overall, LaFleur has been extremely successful, at least in the regular season. His postseason record is a bit more of a mixed bag. While there are many (both amongst fans and media/pundits) who think any talk of replacing LaFleur is crazy, the reality is that he has faced job security questions just about every week for months now, and Ed Policy has yet to give much of any firm commitment to continuing on with LaFleur. If you were to rank all the coaches who made the postseason, LaFleur would at least appear to be one of the shakiest spots/"hottest seats" of that group. Green Bay arguably went "all-in" on what they feel is a championship window this season, only to finish on a 4-game losing streak and a 7-seed playoff appearance. But while LaFleur faced some serious playcalling criticism early in the season, there is also a case to be made that his Packers had really started to get hot at the right time before being derailed by key injuries (From weeks ~10-15ish, #1 in offensive EPA and #6 in defensive success rate). Still, inexcusably bad results like losses to the Browns and Panthers, tying the Cowboys, and a late collapse against the Bears (to set on a bad downward spiral and out of the #2 seed) have turned up the temperature, to say the least. My gut says MLF is most likely safe either way but a Wild Card loss - especially if it's particularly bad - might make things interesting, to say the least. The national media (who I do not think are generally super reliable/plugged-in to GB news, but whatever) seem to at least think he is not totally safe. <strong>Overall record: 76-39-1, 3-5 playoffs.</strong></p></blockquote><p></p>
