[QUOTE="Magooch, post: 1057676, member: 17987"] I have to admit too I somewhat envy the aggressive way they have addressed some of their needs. They had a need at WR...they go out and draft Devonta Smith and then the following year trade their #1 to get AJ Brown. Now they've got a strong case for having the top WR pairing in the league. Last year they saw a big need at CB/DB and they drafted Quinyon Mitchell in the first and traded up to get Cooper Dejean in the 2nd....and again now have one of the better CB pairings in the league and two frontrunners for DROY. They needed a RB and went out and paid for Saquon...for which at the start of the season everyone was saying "overpaying for a RB" and has changed to "one of the best FA signings ever". Meanwhile I feel like often times we focus on going BPA to a fault....like if we were in their shoes a few years ago and had WR as our #1 need, there's no way we would ever take that approach. We'd probably draft BPA or trade down in the first to a better "value" pick, draft a mid-round WR who may or may not pan out in a few years, and the idea of giving up a first round pick in a trade? Perish the thought... So I dunno. There's merits to both approaches in some ways but many times I'd wish we were a bit more aggressive in targeting our *current* needs - drafting and/or signing players to address those needs *now* (even if it comes at a higher cost) as opposed to players that *might* fill those needs a few years down the line.
