Message: <blockquote data-quote="Pokerbrat2000" data-source="post: 1060124" data-attributes="member: 7261">2 Big NCAA Women's Hockey awards were announced yesterday.First, no big surprise,  Mark Johnson is named coach of the year in NCAA Women's Hockey.  This is the 5th time he has achieved that honor.  Best coach EVER in Women's Hockey!Second, and a bit of a surprise, Badger Sophomore goalie Ava McNaughton was named NCAA Women's Goalie of the year!  A surprise for me, because Duluth Goalie Eve Gascon was named WCHA goalie of the year a few weeks ago. This was a tough call for me.  Gascon is amazing in goal and faced a heck of a lot more shots than McNaughton (896 to 732 shots), McNaughton had a slight better save percentage of .947 to Gascon's .942.  Obviously, it's hard to ignore a goalie (McNaughton) that was 34-1-2 while in goal.  The good news, both are Sophomores and will have 2 more seasons to battle it out.I expect Badger's Casey O'Brien to win the biggest award tomorrow, The Patty Kazmaier award for player of the year.  Outside chance that her teammate Caroline Harvey wins it, but I'm thinking O'Brien is a lock.</blockquote>
