Those rosters have guys making big money who are close to going to the major league and then there are the "journeymen" players who fill out the roster getting by on much less who have a very small shot at making it to the majors. The difference is that in AAA, some of the players have already been drafted and are under contract to the big league team. Under a minor league model, it just seems that the affiliation with a college becomes moot. Players are there as a stepping stone to the major league and it really doesn't matter much any more if they're students.</blockquote>
