The early rounds are boring and reduce the importance of the regular season when the first place team gets such a minimal advantage over the eighth place team in the first round. So give the top regular season teams a bye past the first round of the playoffs, and let the rest of the playoff contenders duke it out for a spot in a 7-game series.</p></blockquote><p></p>
