It seems that we have like ten kickers now, well TT surelly is a genius he is so sure of his picks. plus he is spending a lot of money 275 here, 500 there, 200 more on that other guy, he will end up spending more money for a bad kicker than what he would have paid for Vinatieri, Ja,ja,ja,..

Maybe he will take Young plus a couple of other Qb´s in the draft and have them compete for the starting job....

Maybe we should have gotten 3 more guys along with him and have them compete for the GM job... but we didn´t...

Only the signing bonus if any is spent. All three even if kept are cheaper than Longwell. I don't understand Chamuko's disappointment. A team needs multiple kickers in training camp for the numerous and various special teams drills they run. Only one kicker is likely to make the team and be paid the full salary in the contract.

Open competition is a good thing because players put forth a good effort to win the job. The bad thing is it is usually because there is no dominate player.

Of the three kickers the Packers have a former full timer who was fired(Cundiff), part timer(Raynor was kick off specialist), and a new guy(Lloyd) who tried once before but did not get the job with the Ravens. One will likely get cut early so a position player can be added.

There has not been a kicker duel since Jacke left and the competition was between the Packers third round pick and a rookie free agent (cut by San Francisco early in training camp) was brought in as a camp leg. You know how that one turned out.

Wow Chamuko you are so right. We shouldn't waste (small amounts of) money trying to get the best possible kicker. We should just sign one and have no competition for the job. Horrible mismanagement here.

The competition was in the office where the GM works, not on the field in which a player works.
Harlan was the one who determined the 'winner'

An 'off' day? Did you get the 'Early Edition' to NFL for the next 4 years or something? IF so please do scan each an every page and lets start making some bets!

As far as I'm concerned, this isn't news. Sure he might pan out to be the next longwell, but chances are he'll pan out to be the next nothing.

Not sure what was leaked. I read her comments and see where the writers took an inch an ran with it. However you'd be replacing Deanna's assistant, not Brett's. That's MY job k thx :p

Packers bring in another kicker
Written by PackerChatters Staff

Green Bay - The Green Bay Packers are taking a look at another unproven kicker as a possible replacement for Ryan Longwell.
Less than a week after General Manager Ted Thompson claimed Dave Rayner off waivers from Indianapolis, he signed free agent Rhys Lloyd, who was cut in training camp last summer with the Baltimore Ravens.

Lloyd’s agent, Chris Murray, said the Packers offered his client a contract shortly after he worked out for the team on Monday.

The 6-foot-1 and 220-pound Lloyd, a native of England who played at the University of Minnesota, gives the Packers three kickers on their roster. In addition to Rayner, the Packers signed former Dallas Cowboys kicker Billy Cundiff. Of the three, only Cundiff has made a field goal in an NFL regular-season game. The Packers lost Longwell to the Minnesota Vikings in free agency.

“It’s a great opportunity for Rhys (pronounced Reese),â€
