Good thought.
I never thought about it that deeply. Although you would think with a team that tends to draft a high volume of selections mixed with we like to slowly bring those draftees up draft n develop style? Then you mix that with we seem to go after higher RAS guys, often with elevated leadership qualities (particularly in the 2024 draft) that this would really pump Rich with above average quality options at ST. We’ve drafted 30 players in the last 3 drafts or 2.5 seasons it would just seem natural we’d be a better ST group?

That said I’ve seen GB rated in the Top 10 recently and I have absolutely no clue how that happened. Our FG team is at 75% but perfect XPM%, I would think points missed would be weighted more but maybe not. Our Punt group has been pretty good, but it’s offset lost points? Not imo
When I looked at individual facets of our Teams we’re often bottom half of the league quite often. Not sure how that equates to top 10 :cautious:
I don't know how STs are ranked. It's gotta be a fairly involved process, but not really sure.

The first thing that jumped out at me was our Punt Coverage is pretty good and our Kick coverage is pretty bad. The other thing is we’re still #31 in FG% (75%). Need to get that back over 80%+ by season end. FG% is a really important stat for obvious reasons. Overall I think Mcnamus is fine so far

Looks like Anders is getting another try and with Aaron Rodgers team no less.

The Jets tried Riley Patterson for a game, cut him and here comes Anders!
Patterson! Thats the guy I thought we’d sign. He’s actually pretty decent imo
I like our guy better though

I do not really hold that 46 yard miss last week. It was very rainy and the cross wind increased once they made the announcement about wind advisories.

Yeah anything longer than 30 yards was a crap shoot on Sunday in those conditions. I'm not too concerned about that miss. Plenty of other things to be concerned with.....

Exactly. I’m not sure if you recall but just after the Ejection, Doubs jumped offsides and instead of 4th n 6 we could’ve been looking at 4th n 1 at the Detroit23. I’m about 60% sure MLF would’ve went for the 1st down to knock on the Redzone area.
I guess what I’m saying is McNamus should’ve never even been on the field except for an XPA or a FG from <35 yards area.
So I agree in that wind/rain he should’ve never been in a position to Kick outside of about 40 yards max. It was a desperation try

Another shot in our foot. Our team needs leaders on the field that speak to the others at crucial moments. It is not about cheerleading. It is as Kevin Greene once said. " It Is Time! "

Good point. A lot of blame for the many mistakes has been placed on coaching. But coaches can't play the game. The players need to know their assignments and on every play be aware of down and distance, at a minimum. The QB has to be aware of this, the clock, field position, and reading the D.. Big job but also big money.

Given the number of penalties, drops, and INTs, it's kinda amazing they are 6-3. They need to start playing (nearly) mistake-free football and immediately. The players, all of them, should be looking at that during the bye.

While players should be responsible for their mistakes, so far with the exception of just a couple of players near everyone else has been subject to stupid penalties, dropped passes, blown assignments, bad snaps etc.. That leads me to think that coaching is the issue. It's not just a couple of players who need to get benched. Nearly the entire team is undisciplined and unfocused.

Yeah good point. I think at one point against the Lions there were four holding penalties on four different players. Same with off sides, it was multiple guys.

There is individual responsibility and then team responsibility. It has to start with team responsibility and that has to be drilled into players by the coaches, especially the HC and his coordinators.

Anyway, there is a lot of bad football, and a lot of responsibility to go around. For a HC, MLF seems too focused on the offensive game plan and calling the plays. I don't know if that means bringing in a real OC who calls plays, or just MLF stepping back and realizing he is responsible for the whole team.

Out of curiosity, was this happening last year, meaning all of the mental lapses? This is a good and talented team but they are bringing most of the misery (and losses) on themselves.

That is exactly what I was thinking. The same goes for Matt and Love. There are critical times he needs to reel him in and get him to play more conservative. Take what they give you type advice. Same goes for other position groups, they need to be reminded not to get too jumpy, like OL.

I think that’s a logical conclusion. It’s like they have too much leash. Hopefully this is a point of emphasis this week. There needs to be significant focus on cleaning up the flags with a goal in mind of 3 per Game

I was thinking about penalties today and remembered hearing a few times over the years about coaches "prepping" refs before a game. Basically, coaches like to talk to refs and point out certain players on the opposing team that do a lot of holding/clutching and grabbing or this and that. Now I don't know if that's actually true, but it doesn't sit well with me if it does occur. Imagine an attorney meeting up with the judge in the courtroom hallway prior to the start of a trial. That attorney says to the judge "Hey, did you know that opposing counsel does some shady stuff and his witness today, keep an eye on that guy!"

I guess what I'm getting at, is once a player/team gets themselves on the radar for committing certain penalties, you have to wonder how it influences calls.

FWIW, I still remember that Kevin Greene moment from, I think, 2011. And CMIII rose to the challenge. The best players get that way from their play in big games.

At 6-3 the Packers are in much better shape than last year. So while it's 8 games, It Is Time - to play clean, mistake free football and win games.

It’s Worth its Salt. We’ve got the Kicker to be successful. I’m watching some of the 2009 season replays. The very first game Mason missed pretty healthy from like 47 yards. Last week the Ravens missed an XPA from 32 with Tucker. He's one of the best in the business, so it does happen.
I think McManus is a notch and a half above Carlson. He's very similar to Crosby but a sliver better overall. His range is about 3-4 yards better. Where he really pays off is in money games. End of the Game kicks, Playoffs 13/13 100%. That’s not luck but = a guy who actually likes the spotlight imo.

I believe we will see McManus Rock a 55+ yarder this postseason in a Dome or possibly a ~50 outdoors in colder weather, which is even more impressive

LOL....J49ers cut Anders in favor of the now healthy Jake Moody. Jake missed 3 FG's today....kicking just isn't THAT easy!

Oh and Deebo Samuels...what a clown. After the third miss, he got into it with LS Taybor Peppers and Moody.

Anders is going to be done. This record of his has him firmly out of the league. If you cannot hit 40-49 you shouldnt be in the league.
