*Added 8/31/22*....If there is a monetary figure next to their name that is the 2022 cap hit for that player. As we move forward I will italicize and mark guys signed back to the practice squad separately (this will explain why some guys you will see listed twice, but once with a slash through them as they perhaps were part of cuts to get to 53).

The purpose of this thread is due to I'm getting sick of so many just having no clue actually whom we even have on the roster for 2022 - and understanding this is crucial to even be reasonable when discussing all the various options/questions/decisions the Packers face this off season. So rather than post this all over like 18 different threads - here a thread to itself that will list our 2022 roster of players that actually are signed to be a Packer for next year. If you don't see a name here, that means that player in some capacity is a Free Agent (UFA, RFA, ERFA) and presently NOT assumed to be here next fall.

Yes...

That doesn't include resigning of Rasul Douglas, De'Vondre Campbell, Krys Barnes, Tyler Lancaster, Kevin King, Chandon Sullivan, Henry Black on defense (the main guys that saw over 200 snaps in 2021 campaign or more).

That doesn't include resigning Davante Adams, MVS, EQSB, Malik Taylor, Yosh Nijman, Lucas Patrick, Dennis Kelly, Robert Tonyan on offense.

That doesn't include resigning Bojo or any punter actually.

I'd make the list with RFA and ERFA to get a better idea. Most of those guys will be back like most other years.

However regardless of RFAs and ERFAs they are not free and just continue to tick our cap issues higher and higher and more and more. I already did that elsewhere and will copy and paste it here below:

Davante Adams - UFA
MVS -UFA
Lazard -RFA
Sullivan -UFA
King -UFA
Tonyan -UFA
Campbell -UFA
Douglas -UFA
Mercilus -UFA
Lancaster -UFA
EQSB -UFA
Dafney -ERFA
Yosh -RFA
Patrick -UFA
Burks -UFA
Barnes -ERFA
Bojo - UFA
Black - ERFA
Yiadom - UFA

True, they're only going to add to our cap, but someone is going to fill those positions and add to our cap.

Correct but guys like Yosh, Lazard, Tonyan, Barnes just looking at the ERFAs and the RFAs are taking more than league minimums. It's small fries compared to the whole meal, but right now we have a dollar in our pocket and a bill for $19.95 - we got serious work to do before we ask for another small fry.

Rico Gafford reports to have been signed to reserve/future deal with Packers after working out yesterday. Minimal experience in the league he is lightning fast.

Jack Heflin DL also now reported with a futures/reserve contract also Kiondre Thomas CB

Thomas was a guy some of pegged as a Round 7/UDFA out of Kansas State...played in four games for the charges this past season after a stint with the Browns.

BUMP...................
This should be on the 1st page somewhere so that it is easy to find so that people can look at it before they make posts about who to cut, who to draft, and so on. IMO.

I believe as of this moment the OP is accurate to the players signed and their cost to the cap.

I'm going to also work on including in that initial post a list of cap hit numbers for players that had voided monies and aren't actually signed but will hit us.

Example: De'Vondre Campbell could play elsewhere and hit our cap for $808,000.....Kevin King $3,000,000....Tonyan $1,879,200....

I updated OP for dead money and voided money hits....want to freak about voided money presently hitting future caps look at 2023:

Voided Hits: Total $41,081,200
Aaron Rodgers $33,173,568
Dean Lowry $1,866,000
Randall Cobb $1,391,666
Marcedes Lewis $1,050,000
Mason Crosby $1,005,000
Billy Turner $890,000
Kevin King $750,000
Robert Tonyan $469,800
Chandon Sullivan $242,600

De'Vondre Campbell $242,600

THIS IS THE **** PUSHING THE CAN DOES FOLKS.....AND SOME OF YOU ARE ADVOCATING FOR MORE OF THIS CRAP. HOW DO YOU LIKE PAYING FOR THE SERVICES OF KEVIN KING, TURNER, TONYAN, LEWIS, CAMPBELL, LOWRY, CROSBY STILL INTO 2023?

What if I told you those names don't stop in 2023, but are hitting our cap still in 2024 - for nearly $4M total....

I expected to see Aaron Jones on that list.

Nope his contract was big time back loaded and front loaded with guarantees, so essentially not moveable till 2023 and which at that time his hit explodes to a point he has to be moved or restructured.

Are you sure you have that figured right?

King, Tonyan, Sullivan, and campbell will not count anything towards the 2023 cap. All their void years were 2022 and later so as soon as the 2021 year ends and the 2022 year begins all of their future void years come due at once. They don't hang on until the actual year. They will all count against the 2022 cap.

King for example had 4 void years (22,23,24,25) at 750,000 each for a total of 3 million. that entire 3 million will count against the cap in 2022 and be off the books.

Not sure where you got the Aaron Rodgers number. His void year is 2023 so the only cap hit he will incur is his pro rated roster bonus of 7.6 million.

I could be wrong but that is how it was explained when they started handing out all these void year contracts.

Really? Okay than riddle me this and maybe you or @captainWIMM can explain....if that is true and it is a 2022 Cap Hit for King and none of those $750,000 years actually hit in 2023, 2024 and 2025 than why have those years in the contract voided? Just do it all in 2022 from the get go?

Way I understand is the amount owed is due all then, but the cap hit continues to occur as voided years hence why future cap years show the hit on the "Cap Roll" no?

Kings contract was for around 5 million. 1 million in salary, 250K in roaster bonus in 2021 and a 3.75 million dollar signing bonus. He had no salary or bonus in 2022 or beyond because those were void years. The only money counted against the cap in those years was from the prorated SB. (3.75 Million divided be 5 years.) By adding 4 void years they were able spread the SB hit (3.75 million) out over 5 years thus his total cap hit for last year was right around 2 million. If they would have just done 2022 and been done with it the SB hit would have been split between 2 years and his cap hit for the SB alone would have been almost 2 million a year. Thus his cap hit for 2021 would have been around 3.1 million instead of not quite 2

I've read a few articles pertaining to this before I responded to your post because I wanted to be sure. It was confusing because most article only dealt with 1 void year rather than multiples which would be the same as if the Packers had done 2022 with King. The best one was about Brady's last extension with the Patriots. Ignoring salary his extension was 3 years (2019, 2020 2021) with a SB of around 20 million. The last 2 years were void years however.

This meant that even though he got the check for 20 million the Patriots only had to count 6,750,00 a year against the cap in each of the three years. He played for them in 2019 which was an actual salaried year for him and his cap hit consisted of any salary and roster and workout bonuses PLUS the 6,750,000. Then, after the 2019 season ended and they did not come to any further extension agreements he became a free agent which allowed him to sign with the Bucs in 2020. For the patriots however the 6.75 million from the 2020 AND 2021 void years both came due in 2020 and he counted 13.5 million in dead money against the cap in 2020. He did not count any against their cap in 2021 which he would have if the void years didn't accelerate.

Maybe Captain can explain it better. I'm a little confused too as why OTC keeps showing the "Cap Roll" for the void years but I think it has to do with if the two sides come to a further agreement. For example. If the Packers decide to offer Kevin king another contract for say 4 years those 750k/year cap hits in 22,23,24,25 will be reinstated and the 3 million will not count all in 2022 like it does now. It will be just as if those were real contract years and as each one passes less of the SB is left to be accelerated.

I think if you look at the actual numbers it makes more sense. Right now King is set to have a 3 million dollar dead cap hit for 2022. but if you look at the 4 void years its 750K per year. 750k times 4 years is 3 million. Instead of 750k for the next 4 years its 3 million in one year.

I guess the simplest way to explain it (why didn't I do this before? I just thought of it this way) is that the void years are just like any other year with regards to the signing bonus. give a 10 million dollar signing bonus for a 5 year contract you count 2 million per year. If you cut the guy after 3 years the 2 million for each of the remaining 2 years (4 million) all comes due at once. I could have saved us all a lot if time if I had said that right up front but since I took the time to write all that I'm going to make you all read it.

Hope this explains it.

So, bottom line, voided years mean nothing, right (other than moving most of the SB hit to the year after the contract ends, rather than all during the active year(s)?

this cannot be right because I don’t understand the need for more than one voided year if all comes due anyways in one…. @captainWIMM help me understand I’m one hundred percent unclear on this.

IMO you needed the extra voided years to lower the annual average. Same way they do the 5 year contracts for the lower annual signing bonus knowing that 3 years later the player is gone and you eat the 2 year SB cap hit.

I am not understanding this...if it all comes due and hits just the one time there is zero reason to have it structured like that.

I guess I don't at all understand the purpose of it appearing everywhere that say for example Kevin King is still hitting the cap in 2023, 2024 and 2025 for $750,000 and that was there when his contract was announced - if it all hits the 2022 year, why in the hell is it showing up as a cost in 2023, 2024 and 2025? I don't get it.
