This is not about Rodgers performance. This is about his attitude. He is the only QB that sits the bench with a smug look, when he’s loosing and does not do a single thing to pump up his defense. Don’t get me wrong, I love AR12. But I absolutely hate this about him.

So it's his job to fire up the defense? Tell me when has Brady or Brees ever done this? Hell if Rodgers yelled at them then what? We would be criticizing him for being a bad teammate. So he didn't fire up the defense. If you need to be fired up then you shouldn't be in the NFL if you ask me. And who's to say he hasn't encouraged them in the past?

I swear we are so spoiled by Rodgers that we think of new ways to criticize the guy.

And **** Vermiel didn’t yell enough to be a head coach. A defense doesn’t need its quarterback to do anything other than play quarterback in the NFL.

Actually, I thought about this while watching the Saints/ Bears game. The Saints blew a 10 pt lead late in the game to force OT. Brees never got off the bench and talked to anybody. He wasn’t firing up the D or his O. I assume the great QBs are in their own zone trying to figure out how they’re going to pull off the win. I’d like to see some *** chewing from the coaches myself. Rather than them all standing there, wondering what just happened.

I think what Rodgers really screwed up was yelling at jamal williams to get on the line if scrimmage so he could then spike the ball. When he did that I was thinking oh they're not gonna spike it he's gonna just run a play. Then he spikes it, I don't get why he wasted 6 seconds yelling at williams to move when he was fine where he was especially just for a spike

Jamal had to move in there otherwise it would have been an illegal formation

Why? He was lined up as a running back I don't see why he had to be on the line of scrimmage
it wasn’t about Williams per se... it was the fact that the tackle was uncovered and had not reported as an eligible receiver.

If Williams doesn't get in the right formation it is a penalty and 10 second run-off.

Here's the thing about NFL players today. They are becoming specialists and seem to grow individually moreso than collectively as a group. The teams that cinergize and unite on both sides of the ball generally are most successful. Our d line needs to do this.

Moving Williams was a very heads up play. Someone probably lined up in their "position" for that situation, but failed to realize we needed someone to the other side. Rodgers was the only one to catch it and in the blink of any eye at that. I didn't even realize it sitting at home on my couch until he started yelling. Very heads up play

It's not Rodgers job to get the D going. but at times I would like to see him a bit more on his feet on the sidelines, speaking to the O and cheering on the D. maybe it happens and we just don't see it on camera

the commentators stated that it was an illegal formation until AR sorted it

Ah I see someone always has to be outside the tackle on the line of scrimmage on either side of the formation? I feel like I've seen plenty of plays/formations in which that is not the case but I guess the tackle must of declared as eligible on those

So just so I can figure this out in my own head...

These are illegal formations? Because the rt is uncovered and undeclared...

Wr1 Te T G C G T
Wr.2 Qb

Rb Rb

Wr1 Wr3 T G C G T
Wr2 Qb

Rb. Rb

Didn't post how I typed it but wr2 is in slot off of the line of scrimmage. Qb is behind center and rbs split behind the qb

There are some minor quibbles about Rodgers' attitude, but he shouldn't have to take up Pettine's slack.

Plus I think Lucas Patrick has a little something to say about what kind of teammate he is. Pretty damn good if you ask me.

Besides, only smug qb in this league is Carson Wentz. Period!

This, he can do no right by a few stupid posters standards.

Oh boy.

I love how in these bizarre takes it always falls upon the QB to pump up the defense.

It's like a Disney movie where the golden boy QB gives a passionate speech to his despondent teammates that galvanizes them to victory.

I agree with others, it's not up to Rodgers to fire up his defensive players. That should be Pettine, and if he's not doing then the LaFleur should be on Pettine to do so.

As a side, I don't think confrontation is Rodgers strong suit. Had it been, we would have been rid of McCarthy so much earlier.

Football 101:

you must have 7 men on the LOS. Period. If you do not, illegal formation, 5 yard penalty. 10 second runoff if you are within the last 2minutes of the half.

The two players on the End of the line are eligible receivers. Typical a tight end and a wide receiver. This is also why we have the old term “split end” to speak to wide receivers. They are on the end of the line but split out wide.

Slot receivers and backs are not on the line. Technically they are inthe backfield.

If the split or tight end is not the widest man, that wider man is called a flanker.

Watch the WRs on any snap. You’ll note the widest guy will often look to the ref and his side to confirm that he is or is not on the LOS. For example, if you have two WRs on the same side of the formation and both are on the LOS, the inside WR is not eligible on that play.

So now why did Williams need to become a TE for that snap?

1) Idont think they had 7 men on the line.

2) Lineman numbers 50-79 cannot be eligible unless they report as eligible to the ref. And since the last man on the line must eligible, again, illegal procedure.

Okay. I will say that I do not think it is the QBs job to pump up the defense or even the offense.

BUT the QB is the heart of every team. I think it is THE VERY LEAST to ask that the QB is a good teammate.

My concern is that from AA-RON we haven't really seen this be the case. He seems like a VERY individual player, even considering him above the COACH at times. He is a poor sport a lot. He seems to possess no leadership skills. Whether or not you weigh this against the success or lack thereof of the team is an individual opinion.

Whenever I read a(nother) thread about Rodgers' body language or facial expressions, I just think about this scene when Dwight asks Jim if the bed bugs appeared to look smug.

I love it when this crap comes up after every loss, but when the Packers win... the same guy with the bad attitude is a “stud” regardless of if he threw four 4 TDs or none.

Be careful with your absolutes. You have no way of knowing how many smug QB’s are in the league.
