This situation is a good example of why I don't quite understand why the Packers haven't carried a K on the PS this season. I brought this up when the season started, thinking it was a no brainer for teams to now carry a 2nd K. With the new rules put in due to COVID, teams are able to carry 6 extra (16 total) players on their practice squads, with the ability to bring them back and forth safely twice. Add to that, the COVID rules require a player to be in "COVID Protocol/testing" for 5 days before they can be added to a roster, so not having a backup kicker on the PS is rolling the dice that whoever you bring in will even be able to kick in that next game. If Nick Vogel fails the protocol or looks like sh*t on Saturday when he is trying out and Crosby can't go, JK Scott is our PK. I would prefer to carry a vetted kicker over some WR that is being converted into a CB on our PS. That K would have a chance to practice with our holder and LS and be more of a sure thing in the event our kicker was a mid week or last second scratch. You hope that neither has to be used during the season, but I think the K is probably going to be more valuable of an asset than your 6th CB. BTW, in case people don't know, Vogel is the 7th kicker that the Packers have had come in for a tryout since the season started. Also brought in were Casey Bednarski, Chris Blewitt, Ramiz Ahmed, Chandler Catanzaro, Giorgio Tavecchio and Josh Gable. Vogel kicked for three seasons at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, finishing as the school’s third-leading scorer. He made 47 of 64 (73.4%) of his field goals in college, hitting 19 of 23 (82.1%) in his final year
