Fairly certain someone asked this, but I didn see it in the search. Why is Indianapolis in the AFC South and Baltimore in the AFC North? Mason-Dixon Line?

lol used to always wonder that with the old divisions.

How in the hell were Atlanta and New Orleans in the NFC West before 2002? And also Carolina, they are not a western team at all.


Baltimore does belong up there though, as the real Cleveland Browns can get a chance to beat the Steelers twice a year.


The divisions may have their faults like Indianapolis in the South but it's not near as bad as used to be, having 3 teams in the southern-eastern area in the NFC West.


I do however miss the AFC West having Seattle. That division would have some real competition today with them in it.
