[QUOTE="PWT36, post: 76494, member: 170"] Remember this is only OTA practice in early June. NO full pads & No hitting going on. I would wait until the training camp begins in late July before I would draw any conclusions of what is going on with the Packers The comment in this topic about Billy Cundiff & Dave Rayner should be taken in context of they have been here for a short time and it is only early June. This is a part of article in Green Bay Press-Gazette Wed. June 2, 2006 by Green Bay Press-Gazette Sports reporter Rob Demovsky concerning a OTA kicking session on Tuesday, June 2nd between Cundiff and Rayner. Quote " For the first time this off season, coach Mike McCarthy put his kickers through the wringer and veteran Billy Cundiff came a way with slight edge over Dave Rayner. Using four holders and two long snappers, the two kickers statrted with extra points, and then attempted field goals of 24 ,29, 39, 44, 52 and 43 yards during a team portion of Tueday's practice. Cundiff, the former Dallas Cowboys kicker made 7 of 8, missing wide right from 52 yards. Rayner, who spent 14 games as Indianapolis Colts kickoff Specialist last season, made 6 of 8 missing his final two kicks of 52 and 43. both wide left. Rayner said he rushed the two kicks he missed . He barely made a 44 yarder that snucked just inside the right upright. Both kickers made all four extra points during another special teams session portion of the practice held in climate controlled Don Hutson Center. It is possible that neither Cundiff or Rayner will end up winning the job. perhaps General Manager Ted Thompson will find a better candidate off the street or when one gets cut by another Team. But for now it appears Tuesday was simply the first of many head to head battles between Cundiff and Rayner." unguote Again it is too early to get excited about anything going on in Packer OTA's in early June, there is long way to go between now and beginning of the regular NFL season.
