It’s a terrible scenario. The reality is we always have to be prepared. Hopefully this is exaggerated or embellished from reality and that’s often the case. There’s 2 sides to the story and we’ve heard the worst of 1 side. That said. An outright cut would free up $8.3Mil on our Cap in 2026 with $6.3mil sunk. That or a Post Jun cut would be more in timing as we approach end of Month and would divide that $6.3mil in equal parts across 2026-2027 or $3.15Mil sunk this year and the rest in 2027. That scenario frees up $11.42mil Cap in 2026. GB also has pairs of draft picks from RD3-RD6 next season. So we do have significant draft and monetary capital to fish for trade. As an example.. Recently KC offered a 4th Rounder for Breece Hall, but the Jets wouldn’t entertain less than a RD3 selection. Unfortunately just this May the Jets extended Hall to a $45Mil.+ contract, so we missed an opportunity there. If you go through the FA list, at least 4 of the top 6 or 7 RB Free Agents are coming off serious Achilles, ACL injuries or foot Injuries It’s also getting late in the year so this isn’t an ideal time to be out hunting for a starting RB. Trading might be costly, but it’s also the cost of doing business. The ideal scenario is Marshawn redeems himself and explodes on scene. Lastly. While this is not ideal timing to replace our RB1, there is plenty oof time for a Veteran to get acclimated. It’s not like losing a RB in Week 2 etc.
