Our next opponents are the Jets, we're currently favored by 4.5 points. The last time we played the Jets was 2022. We opened as 7-point favorites at home.
Rodgers was our QB and threw for 246 yards and a TD. Robert Tonyan had a big day with 10 catches for 90 yards. On the other side of things, Zach Wilson went just 10/18 for only 110 yards and 0TD.
We lost 27-10.
Four days later, for Week 3 we're up against Atlanta. The early line has us as favored by a touchdown.
The last time we played the Falcons was in 2023. Love had a big day - 3TD and a 81.2 QBR and 113.5 passer rating, while the Falcons started Desmond Ridder who had 1TD, 1INT, and a 68.7 QBR/79.8 passer rating. Heading into the 4th quarter, we were up 24-12 and had a 90% chance to win.
We lost 25-24.
Moving on to Week 4 which has us playing Tampa Bay. The last time we saw them was also 2023. At the time, we were both 6-7 but we were named 3.5pt favorites by the books.
Baker Mayfield went 22/28 for 381 yards and 4TD.
We lost 34-20.
In Week 5, we're facing the Bears. No need to revisit what happened the last time we played them.
Week 6 sees us facing a familiar foe in Dallas. Perhaps some respite here as we haven't lost to them in our last 6 meetings...
You might recall the last time we faced them. With 1:45 left in the game we were up 34-30 and had a 85%+ chance to win. We get taken to overtime and with 30 seconds left in OT we're trailing 37-40 but have 1st and 10 from the Dallas 12.
We play to a tie, 40-40.
Finally in Week 7 we come to an opponent who we actually beat the last time we played them! Love had a career-best 4 TD day.
We won 31-24.
In Week 8 we are again playing the Panthers. Last season we opened as big 13.5-point favorites. We had as high as an 85% chance to win, and still ~75% to start the second half.
So basically, if we start out 0-4, we're missing the playoffs. Only one team has ever made the playoffs in the last 3o years after starting 0-4... The Chargers back in 1992. Which would be inexcusable based on the expectations we'd be a competitive team, maybe even a great team this year.

That Jet game was horrific. They blocked a FG. They blocked a punt and ran it back. You thought our line was bad Sunday. It was just as worse vs. the Jets with only a 4 man rush.
I don't get the whole "he's an offensive genius!" His offenses haven't been great, especially lately!!!! There are rookie and 2nd year head coaches, with better offensive game plans!!! He should have NEVER gotten that extension!!!!!

Way to lift our spirits Magooch. I'd add to this list the 2014 NFCCG meltdown against the Hags, the worst defeat in Packer history IMO, and the loss to the Bears in the playoffs this January, after leading by not 1, not 2, but 3 possessions at halftime.
And to your last point, there must be many more since MLF took over. It does look like he simply isn't cut out to be a HC.
I dunno. I can give my spirits a bit of a lift by thinking, it's only one game and the first game at that, Parsons and Jacobs will probably both be back in 5 or 6 weeks, the early schedule is "easy" - well except for the queens.

I’d say this is worse than the McCarthy years. Towards the end of that era, it was irritating, but sad to see Mike lose the team. It’s comparable to a long-time family dog that is sick, is soiling itself in the house, and the best thing to do is to put it out of it’s Misery.
What LaFlop has managed to accomplish, in my opinion, is FAR worse.
It seemed to me that MLF lost the team on Sunday after 1) taking points off the board, and 2) failing on the following 4th down attempt.
The offense works hard to get even a field goal. Taking that away deflates the entire team and the fan base.
In certain situations I'm ok with taking the 3 points down - for example, if the penalty had resulted in a first down. The situations where taking points down are few.

Agreed. And while it is only one game, Gannon's fingerprints were all over the D against the queens. Blitzing CB, more blitzing from the LBs, esp Cooper and Franklin, better CB play, esp rookie Cisse.
It will take an exponential leap forward when Parsons gets back. The offense is gonna be hit and miss, but the D has a good chance to finish top 5.

It is not so much the offense but the overall decision making and strategy. Being aggressive is not always the way to go. Being practical and playing with a high margin for error can be just as successful. You can manufacture points, you can manufacture wins when you are missing players.

I'm not in the "Whack MLF" camp, yet. It's concerning when the last two losses unfolded in almost the same way, failure to maintain Q4 lead.
These first five games, err make that the next 4 games, are among the easiest on the schedule this seson. Ty commented that 2-2 will keep MLF alive, barely. That's probably true. If they lose to the Jets AND the Falcons, they'd be 0-3 and calls for MLF's head may come true. Actually that's the same thing Ty is saying. 0-3 or 1-3 gets him whacked, 2-2 keeps him alive. After those four games, the Bears come to Lambeau. I'd be ecstatic if they come into that game 3-1.

What will be the Bears ability to get to the next level is to start faster and earlier in their games. Yes, you can rally the troops like they have in the past but against the very best opposing coaches and teams it is hard to come back from 10, 12, 18 points in the 4th quarter, unless you are playing certain opponents known for blowing leads. Going into halftime ahead is what they would like to see happen.
I do think that’s another thing many of us are doubting after 1 game. We talk about all the advantages of our opponent like we’re their fans, but neglect our own family (packers). It’s easy to support your family when everything is going hunky dory, even the Cleveland fans do that. Can you support them when they fell flat on their face? I can.
Now if Green Bay had sold all their talent and went into a rebuild I’d understand the consternation. Yet once again, the Packers largely dominated the Vikings until around mid to late Q3. I know because watched the look on Vikings fans faces after halftime. They looked defeated. Sometimes it just takes a few minor adjustments and some luck (refs throwing bones) to get back in a game.
Call me an optimist, but this is still largely the same team as last year. Ok. Some shuffling at DL and OL. But don’t newer OL they play multiple games together generally see improvement off of Week 1? I think so. Last week needed several minor adjustments and things could’ve looked very differently. Really even just cut the flag count in half to 6? I believe this would’ve been at worst a dogfight to the last second.
Cisse starting his career facing off with Justin Jefferson at U.S. Bank might be 1 of the 5 toughest venues + opponents leaguewide imo. Aside from maybe Amari Cooper at Dallas or Puka at So Fi etc. there’s really not many matchups that are harder than Justin Jefferson.
The last pair of Viking TD’s covered a total of 15 yards. They were marred in GB mistakes. Even Williams had an INT that was erased by a McKinney flag. That led to a ATD.
Another TD was a 4th n 13 and erased by a phantom flag. That should’ve been GB ball on around our 20-25 target. Instead it was a bonus drive that led to 7 points.
Then we gave away 3 points on the FG
Then Sorrell jumped and it was a free play that Wentz just threw it up in the air to give Jefferson a shot. He catches it right at the back of the Paint.
any combo of 3 of those mental errors or referee phony flags and this game turns out differently.
We just need to keep improving and mitigating us offering help to our opponent. I do believe the noise created at minimum 3-4 avoidable flags. In this league it going to be hard to win on the road with 12 flags for 100 yards.
Btw the Lions are finding out that it’s not easy to play in High Mark Stadium . 0-14 and Bills ball at midfield and still Q1

Technically yes. Yet each departure had a legitimate comparable answer either brought in or already in house.
Our only setback was Micah Parsons. Yet even then it’s probable that he plays a comparable amount of snaps on the year.
Lions are looking like the Packers. Melting on the Road. Too many flags. 66 yards rushing at 3.3 per. Matter of fact as bad as our Offense finished? We outperformed Detroit. 7 points came in garbage time.
419 All purpose vs 355 All purpose.
Exact same 66 Rushing. With Jamyr Gibbs!
Their O line sure looked bad. But I think that was supposed to be their biggest weakness this year. And of course, Buffalo was eager to play. Boy did Allen take advantage of non containment early. Detroit's Gibbs is incredible.
As I said regarding the Broncos/Chiefs (and now with Lions/Bills) I think it's two very different things to simply be beaten wire-to-wire than to be in a winning position and manage to find a way to lose the game.
One is not necessarily "better" or "worse" than the other but one big reason our loss to Minnesota was concerning was not simply that we lost - it was the nature of it and how it is seemingly indicative of a growing pattern with the team.
I don't know if I'd feel better about things if we simply got outplayed by Minnesota for the entirety of the game, but at very least then it wouldn't have the same feeling of collapse...

Yeah I was certain the Bears would be good. Their D still needs improvement. But when a team can put up 59 points, the D can be average to still win games.
