I thought he was bad. When not giving up a sack, he was almost giving up one

As a LT Jenkins gave up 12 total pressures across 8 games, so just 1.5 per game.
For referencing some guys games if folks are wondering if that is good or normal or what?

Rasheed Walker 2024 season - 37 pressures in 18 games (includes WC). That is 2.05 per game.
David Bakhtiari's 2019 season - 37 Pressures in 18 games (included two playoff games). That is again a 2.05 per game rate.
Bakhtiari's cut short incredible season of 2020 - 9 pressures in 12 games .75 per game.
Tom's 2023 RT season - 37 in 19 games (included playoffs) which is 1.95 per game.
Tom's 2024 season - 28 in 18 games or 1.55 per game

I'm certain there were times the rusher was closing in but it wasn't called a pressure. That's what I saw.

While I wouldn't call him a Pro Bowler at LT or RT, he is very capable of stepping into either position and performing at a decent level. This is the type of Offensive Lineman that Gute and the Packers seem to covet. Injuries seem to happen during a game, and if a lineman goes down, even if you have to shuffle some starters to different positions, it is optimal to have your best 5 players out there. That is versus running in maybe a rookie, that hasn't seen a lot of action at a particular position.
I think we lost two playoff ganes because imho of bad tackle play. Was he a tackle in one of those? I don't remember

Jenkins, ridiculous decision with 2 yrs left, not another dime if I am GB- play this year as you signed to play OL, then you an work with management to decide if you are worth more money, an extension, etc.. Why would GB acede to his demand?

Hang on…so many of you hold the player to the “you signed this deal play” okay then why not say GB has to pay him for that final year? It’s contract structure EVERYONE knew that final year ain’t happening…so naturally this is the time to discuss stuff.

Everyone familiar with contract structures saw this coming - my bet is GB is willing to talk otherwise it would have been a hard no and it would be mum is the word.

I’m in total agreement. J’aire gives us the best immediate success at CB and it’s gamble worth pursuing. I’m not suggesting massive guaranteed, but maybe a restructure adding a year and some modest guaranteed to keep him here an extra season (contract out +1yr)
There is really no point in talking about potential massive guarantees. Green Bay doesn't do that except for franchise QB. Everyone else gets the standard 25-33% guarantee at best.

Jaire was guaranteed $30M with his last contract. Despite percentages of total contract, I would call that massive.

Well that’s not true either look at Savage. He got $8mil fully guaranteed. Is that 25-33% obviously not. 100% guaranteed on a short term deal. So it’s only on 5th year Day1’s right?? Nope.

The best CB contract just got 99% ($89mil) guaranteed this year. No way does J’aire sign a 25-33% guaranteed short term 1-2 deal unless it’s $45Mil yearly meaning it’s 99.9% impossible.

So yes. His guaranteed is massive if he’s clicking at over 35% and eating 9% of 1 pizza split 50+ ways.

Savage never got a deal here and was only here under rookie deal?

I'm just guessing but didn't we not go for the 5th year and instead signed him to a 1 year deal.
They declined fifth year and did a restructure. One year or even two year type deals are dramatically different than signing longer term contracts, which in the case of longer term deals, GB outside of QB operates well below the typical guaranteed money vs the league.

I'm pretty sure that they exercised Savage's 5th year option, which was close to $8M. However, they added void years to stretch out the cap hit.

While that is true in general it's proven that on shorter 1yr deals with starter types they do more than 30% type guaranteed. I was responding to a poster saying that will never happen when in fact it just did recently. The term and quality of the player sway guarantee wildly

While I understand your point, the Packers paid Jenkins up front for some flexibility in his contract. That being the $24M bonus that Jenkins was given/guaranteed when he signed his new deal. NFL contracts, thanks to the the NFLPA, have slowly evolved into a more equitable situation for players. Throw in the evolution of Star players being able to force a new contract by threatening to sit out and the pendulum swings even further over to the players side.

Want to fix it? Make all contracts a standard 4 year deal, non-guaranteed, for a predetermined base+ incentive pay. Players will get paid based on performance and teams will pay out, based on production.

We’ve broken down the discussion on performance based pay, salary cap impact would hamstring teams and could bankrupt a team if enough guys hit their performance levels written in.

I doubt bankruptcy is a concern with any NFL Owner. As far as the cap goes, the rules and logic of that, would need to change as well. Give me time to figure out such a change. ;)

The following is my list of young players that I see as the most probable to see a spike in production over our 2024 seasons.
I selected ones that either did not produce at all or very little (in the case of being Rookie additions or Injuries etc.. ) OR didn’t produce anywhere near what I think their ceiling is for a variety of reasons, such as they shared snaps or were dedicated to Teams etc. OR they showed glimpses of potential and were rising later last season OR are poised to have a “near ceiling” type season.

Devonte Wyatt RD1
Karl Brooks RD6
Lukas Van Ness RD1
Kalen King RD7
Kitan Oladapo RD5
Tyron Hopper RD3
Edgerrin Cooper RD2
Collin Oliver RD5
Barryn Sorrell RD4

Romeo Doubs RD4
Dontayvion Wicks RD5
Luke Musgrave RD1
Marshawn Lloyd RD3
Jordan Morgan RD1
Savion Williams RD3
Matthew Golden RD1

When I look across that list I count 5-6 across all phases that I wouldn’t be surprised if they popped nicely. Now all teams have young players, but not all teams drafted as many and at higher draft round intervals as GB did. Also some players may have a down year that aren’t on this list, so consider that also.

That Offensive list is glimmering with unrealized potential. Any one of that list could see some quality snaps if they get going earlier.

Obviously we lost some drafted players also. Yet it’s just not a menacing looking list at all. Slaton and Wilson were the only players I would’ve like to see stay on board, but the offset favors 2025 on a balance sheet. Imo Stokes highly underperformed overall. Josh Myers slightly underperformed also. Two were primarily ST players and good but not irreplaceable either.

TJ Slaton RD5
Robert Rochelle RD4 (Rams)
Corey Ballentine RD6 (Giants)
Eric Stokes RD1

Josh Myers RD2
Christian Watson (1/2 season+)

I guess what I’m saying is the Roster Arrow is pointing up hard If I we’re laying bets on individual players, I’d feel very good about the 2025 Group outperforming the 2024 group. Much relies on Love, but if he has the slightest uptick in the Passing game, going to be tough to beat.

My player I think could really surprise in this Offense is Lloyd. Just watching him he looks so much faster than his 40 time imo. His short area burst is exceptional. His lateral movement is impressive. It’s no Wonder he was one a the top players in College YAC, he’s Low Center of gravity with a nice Jacobs like

If Watson and Golden get on the field together later in the season that’s a handful and it’s looking more and more like a possibility.

I like this breakdown. I'm not sure on Kalen King. As it looks, Alexander is coming back and we didn't sign Hobbs to ride the bench. I think we have too many corners for him to make a difference. I don't think Hopper makes it. He doesn't have the football IQ. I think Doubs is probably gone after this season, but could make a difference in 2025. Still, I like your thoughts there.
