Did I miss some drama? What did he do to burn a bridge?
I'm thinking with our other wrs getting healthy. And losing Wyatts' causing us to stack the practice squad for DT depth.... Winter and playoffs coming.

The priorities just shifted to needing DTs over stashed WR talent. Melton surprisingly is out there even with Reed, Golden healthy. He must be earning those reps, which makes Heath that little bit more expendable. Watson, Reed, Daubs, Wicks, golden, Savion, Melton. That's 7. We're stacked.

I did some googling, and found that he was left behind in Green Bay before the Giants game for disciplinary reasons. Lafleur didn't say what it was, but apparently the rumor is that he was expressing dissatisfaction with Melton starting to get snaps at WR instead of him.

I don't know if that's true or not, or if it is, whether that really constitutes bridge-burning, but either way I wish Heath well. He worked very hard after coming in as an UFDA, and for 3 years he made it difficult for Green Bay to let him go.

He made life-changing money here (several million dollars), and now he'll have a chance to get regular snaps in Atlanta and possibly develop into a better receiver and have a nice little career. I respect him, and hope he does well.

Only thing I can surmise is that we do play Chicago 2X in the cold and are now tailored to just counter that Offense who routinely runs up the gut.
Did he even play Sunday? I don't believe he did, but we could have used him in that second half.

I really wonder if Watson didn't get him (Lloyd) connected with the muscle specialist that discovered his hamstring issues was due to a massive muscular imbalance.
He did, in fact.

This new nose tackle from the Giants sure is big. I hope he's motivated. Not very reassuring that he was on their practice squad but sometimes players just end up in purgatory.
My hopes aren't very high... at his combine, he had a RAS of something like 2.87. That's not a be-all, end-all factoid, but it's not encouraging. He graded "poor" in every metric except height and weight. :roflmao:

But we'll see. Worth a shot, although if we get a few more injuries this year in the WR corps,we may wish we'd kept Heath.

He also retweeted (and subsequently deleted) a tweet that said “why do they hate Malik Heath so much?” (In response to another tweet talking about Watson and Melton snap counts)
Whoa!

That's not a smart decision for a bubble player that the team has given a lot of opportunities over the years, and shown a solid commitment to.

Packers worked out another DT yesterday, Byron Cowart.

"Cowart is an under tackle who has played 51 games in the NFL and has made 21 starts. Most recently, he started seven games for the Chicago Bears in 2024. The 29-year-old was originally drafted in 2019 in the fifth round out of Maryland, following a transfer from Auburn, where he signed as the country’s number one overall recruit in the 2025 class."

The part about being the #1 overall recruit in the "2025" class, has to be a typo and meant to be "2015". The dude is 29 years old.

How close are we to having all 21 [no Kraft :(] along with the top dozen or so fill-ins back and reasonably healthy?
Close. Jacobs was the only 1 that didn't practice today. He was on a stationary bike and believed to be just resting his injured knee.

Wyatt was placed on IR last Friday and based on his injury, he won't be back this season. Jenkins, Kraft and Glover are all in the same boat.

Still waiting on news about Lloyd and Cox. Their 21-day practice windows to return from IR were opened on 12/1. At this point, both players are just depth pieces, so I don't see any urgency, in doing anything with either.

At this point Glover, Cox, and Lloyd are not in the top 30ish based on playing time and previous results. Maybe when they get on the field ... That's why I didn't mention them.

Kristian Welch is also another key injury, for Special Teams. He got knocked out of the Bears game with a concussion and is currently going through protocol. I hope he is back for the Bronco game, that is a guy they need on ST.

I'm not pencilling in someone signed midseason off the practice squad as a top 30ish. What I considered when I started this is the starting 22 (3 out) DB5, P, K, RB2, TE2, WR3&4, Edge 3, DT 3&4. Everyone else, while important when playing, can mostly be serviceably replaced by another.

Especially since the Broncos have a good punt returner.

Kraft replaced by Musgrave.

The Rookie Belton rotating in at RG with Rhyan playing well at center. No drop off. In fact they seem to be protecting Love very well. And Belton is a bruiser.

Wyatts replacements are yet to be seen. But getting LVN back. Along with Cox jr. And a new rotation of 3 interior D linemen to hopefully find a suitable playmaker with little drop off. LVN coming back will be huge I believe.

Overall the losses are easily absorbed. And we actually are tapping into new talent we didn't know was there on the lines.

I'm pretty excited to be honest

We've weathered the storm so far well....but I cannot agree with this being "easy". Kraft is not replaceable, we have no one that can do all he does out of the TE position. Thankfully for us, Whyle and Fitz can handle more the dirty stuff he does and Musgrave can kinda do the receving threat but not the same....we've also due to losing him had to implement and run a lot more 6 offensive lineman snaps a game. There were quite a few 6 OL 3 WR 1 RB sets last week...overhauling things like that means it hasn't been easy.

Nothing personal but I always saw Bo Melton as a more valuable option. I argued that before Roster cuts also. His resume was similar but Bo had Teams contributions and Heath didn’t. That’s really important for that WR6 spot. Then Bo adapted really well at CB which makes gives him a clear advantage in versatility. Now Bo is getting work on Returner and he looks good.

For sure, I saw Kinnard in the game on numerous occasions, as that 6th OL

Mercedes Lewis was just released. In truth I’d rather him than Kinnard be that 6th TE blocker cuz he still understands reading coverage IF ever does a short route or slip timing.

Heath had about 150 special teams snaps over these last 3 years, less than half of Melton's. I've never understood why he wasn't more valuable for teams - he's fast, aggressive, and 3 inches taller and 25 pounds heavier than Bo. Seemed like he'd have been a real good fit.
