Signing with the Packers would make the most sense for Asante. Showcase himself for the rest of the season, possibly get his 3rd gold ring, and if they do win it, he'd be considered a major part of the reason why. That would be money in the bank for him in getting a nice 3-year deal with a lot of guaranteed money so he can feather his nest egg.

Signing with anyone else would be dumb in my opinion, as long as the money is even relatively close.

To be fair niners and Steelers both offer similar chance

Realistically I think it's with the Packers. The 49ers & Steelers are not going to get a major uplift with him on the roster while the Packers will, and it will show by the end of the season. If I was to pick one of the three out that it would lift to a better chance of making the Super Bowl it would be the Packers.

But in the NFL, the players have their own reality. But I think Asante seeing a chance to play with Parsons out there forcing early passes means more opportunity for picks.

Both of those teams are in need of elevated CB play and have elite pass rush groups.

I tend to think GB would be more attractive than the others but the three places are quite similar for sure.

Yes. Having the duo of Gary and Parsons, with other talent still rising like Van Ness and Wyatt has to be intriguing. That front 7 is pretty talented and then he’d be in a young backfield led by Veteran Xavier McKinney. It’s really mostly an All Star Cast of characters.

IF we landed Asante and it’s a big IF Asante regains his form, it puts our Backfield back on track in line with equivalent of a healthy Jaire type impact player. No he’s not a Top 5 CB, but he’s in that high impact, cracking someone’s top 20 list.

I REALLY liked Keisean Playing Slot. I know Bullard is good, but just look at Nixon Run Stop grades, nobody really tops that 90 Grade. Bullard is good and I love his aggressive demeanor, but he’s still learning how to process Pass Defense.

There’s an art to not drawing constant PI and Nixon is a great player that’s imo is playing his heart out, but out of his “ideal” position.

Lip service by MLF to placate Packer fans and the media? I think so.

Honestly though, if McManus is healthy, I choose him over Havrisik. The question is, is he healthy enough to be playing or is MLF just trying to play it safe by going with a veteran kicker, that the Packers just paid a lot of money to?

If Havrisik does end up playing Monday night and makes all of his kicks, what then? Of course, if he misses any, especially a clutch kick, fans will scream about MLF not playing McManus. Could we see them both suit up for Monday nights game? I doubt it, but you never know.

Is the Vikings organization looking at the Asante Samuel Jr. visit different than other organizations? Because if all that is going on here is a medical exam of him by each team, Why TF didn't each team just fly out a medical rep. to 1 spot to meet with him, examine him and get this done in a day or 2?

Now I do suppose that each organization wants to wine and dine him, show him around their facility and maybe meet with coaches and some players. So there is that.

If McManus can kick at practice they should be able to know. If he can't kick at practice; that seems to be telling us something different and why would they have used him last week?

I really enjoyed this article by Bill Huber. Some pretty obvious observations on his part, but true and well stated.

Rasul Douglas trade or a Asante Samuel Jr signing (IF healthy) are two headlines I really would like to see announced right now....
Didn't Samuel have some verterbrae fused? He was certainly a v good corner before that. It just amazes me that a guy could get cleared to play in the NFL after this kind of surgery. Modern medicine, and on Asante's part, a willingness to take risk. I wouldn't do it.

Spinal fusion yes. I don't count anything out after Alex Smith and others come back from what should be life altering things...

Interesting to note. A lot of us were talking about the Packers signing Asante Samuel Jr. to try and immediately improve our secondary. He has remained on the Steelers PS since signing over 2 week ago. It sounds like he will eventually play, but he is still "working up to speed". Same goes for MVS, who the Steelers signed to their PS on Nov. 4th.

Seems like they could have used the help last Sunday against the Bears.

We have 10 days to talk about replacing Devonte Wyatt. Brooks is still out with an ankle issue, so that leaves Stackhouse and Brinson to pair with Wooden. Way too thin. Obviously, you have options of sliding LVN in there or other DE's but I would rather see them bring in a fresh body.

Christian Wilkins is still out there as a FA after being released by the Raiders this summer. He should be healed from a 2024 foot injury, I guess the question would be' "Is he in shape and wanting to play again?"

Otherwise, Gute is probably combing 31 teams practice squads to see what else is out there.

In 2010 we found Green. And he was key for us. Gute needs to find someone.

I've always like Christian Wilkins and he was a stud at Miami. The big and obvious questions are; what kind of playing shape is he in and what kind of attitude does he bring? He has only played 5 games since 2023. He is only 29 and has only played in 86 NFL games. So his wheels should be very fresh and have plenty of tread on them.

I would be taking a serious look at him if I were MLF.

I kinda like the idea of Ta’Quan Graham on Eagles PS

Also Montravious Adams is out there unsigned now for a low risk gamble guy that is familiar with GB and might want to reclaim a shot in the NFL somewhere he knows…not sure how much he has left at this point

No offense to DT's but between them and OL players, I think they are probably the most likely to get out of football shape when not playing. Which might be the case with Wilkins and/or Adams. When Wyatt was hurt before the Cowboys game, the Packers worked out Anthony Campbell, Keondre Coburn, and Omari Thomas. I think all 3 are still free agents, so we might see one of them signed.

Your idea of a PS squad player like Ta'Quan might be the best option. You are probably most likely to find a healthy, eager, capable and willing player on another teams PS and with the depth of the Eagles DT's, you might pluck a decent one from them.

The Packers only in-house move would be to bring up James Ester off the PS, but I don't think the guy has ever played a snap in the NFL?

Recall in that 2010 season with all our ER visits we signed a Jet, Howard Green. Big body. Not great but he did what we needed. And he even caused a Roethlisberger INT early in SB 45.
