Well, he had to do something right to be on the roster he was the last 3 seasons. He may be able to move the pile enough so that even an average QB or RB can get a first down. 4th and inches...do you run behind him?
You nailed it!

Gute is gearing up for the Cheese Push!!

They're saying Monk has a hamstring injury, so it's possible that if they really want to give him another chance they coud stash him on IR for a while. But either way, this isn't good news for him.

Definitely brings more information as to why Gute traded for Kinnard. Monk seems to be a project anyway and not ready to play yet. So if he does get put on IR, it wouldn't be the worst thing.

Wonder if MLF may occasionally trot out a "Jumbo Package" with Kinnard as Fullback &/or Belton as a TE?

McCarthy used both Bulaga & TJ Lang on the right side (Lang as TE) AND 360lb BJ Raji at FB back in 2010 playoffs.

Whether it would be to run The Love Lunge or The Kinnard Krunch....mixing up those 3rd/4th and short calls with The Kraft Kraftiness play, would be a nice touch.

Mike Sherman used T Kevin Barry technically as a second TE in a package which included the FB. Ahman Green usually got the football.

Your opening statement is something I was told constantly about some in the past as well....shoot one past member here could not stand that I brought forth the idea of the Davante trade before it ever happened.

I also know of the interview you are discussing with Butkus, there is a massive difference between being satisfied and believing every back up sucks. It is extremely rare that any coach just comes out and bluntly states 100% the truth either - that would be disrespectful to the players at times and at other times management. The depth of the team is more so impacted due to some injuries and discipline (pre snap) primarily.

To state in such a 100% way that Rhyan nor Walker get moved is just hilarious and misplaced. I personally don't believe Gute wants to trade either, but he also doesn't want to just watch countless guys leave with nothing in return guaranteed either....and even if you do get something it isn't until 2027 draft.

Your nine is only different than my 9 locks by one person I have Telfort in and Monk out.
Not sure why what other people told you matters to me? It's irrelevant really, sorry.

I'd pick Monk over Kadeem Telfort because Monk can play C and G. Telfort is a T pretty exclusively. If anyone gets on the 53 over Monk it would be Donovan Jennings. We shall see in about 24 hours. I would be ok with Jennings hanging around. Stay tuned.

I think I said "100%" about Kinnard being added for depth. I stand by that statement.

I also stand by Sean Rhyan being on the 53 AND not going out the door this season.

Again, stay tuned. I can promise that tomorrow Sean Rhyan will be on the 53. I think I said no way in hell Rhyan is getting moved. I stand by that statement as well.

Bringing in Kinnard had nothing to do with moving on from someone else.

It was relevant because it has been proven time and time again historically to pretend things can be stated in such a 100% way is foolishness. You and I both predict Rhyan is on the 53, that doesn't remove the concept of the discussion of moving a player is still something which must be weighed by a GM.

A smart GM is constantly attempting to build the best team in the present and in the future as well - and while it is quite possible Gute and Co sit on Quay, Doubs, Watson, Walker, Rhyan and Enagbare and truly runs the risk of getting nothing back (depending on FA moves by us and others)...the fact still remains Gute's tendencies to really desire equity in the draft would strongly suggest one or more of these pieces are viable trade targets for other teams to call on and at minimum not get hung up on - even if Gute is likely not going to bite on a trade.

Actually, it kind of does.

By obtaining Kinnard, who I assume is going to be on the 53, the Packers use a roster spot. That would mean one less player will be on the 53 man roster or in short, the Packers will be moving on from a player.

I guess whether that player that Kinnard replaces on the 53 is an offensive lineman or not, we may never know.

Packers parted ways with/moved on from, recently signed WR Kawaan Baker.

Obviously a move that was needed after trading for Kinnard, to get the roster back to 90+IE Mark McNamee

@tynimiller

Are we using this thread for all of the cuts that occur between now and Tuesday at 3 p.m. CT.?
Um....honestly final cut downs is often involved and has many thoughts and expressions - I'll update this thread from them but I think "Final Cutdown 2025" is a deserving thread of its own personally?

I was thinking the Kinnard move is giving us a glimpse at Banks. His back might take a little more time than we thought? Now we’re fine I mean we can plug Morgan at LG, but our depth is probably what Telfort, Belton, Jennings and “X”.
I don’t even think Monk will be fully healthy Week 1. This should push Telfort into backup Tackle or Kinnard into LG, RG or RT. Jennings at backup LG etc. This is IF Banks can’t go Week1

I’m just thinking it’s concerning Banks because losing Monk isn’t going to draw a 6th Rounder imo. That more if you lose a Starter or OL6,7 type imo

My comment was directed at the individual that claimed Sean Rhyan or Sheed were going to be moved, and bringing in Kinnard was a sign of either of those moves by Gute.

No, Kinnard was brought in solely to improve the depth on the OL.

Yes, there will be OL that don't make the 53 tomorrow, but those won't include Sean Rhyan or Sheed.

Agree. I think there are 7 o-lineman who are safe (Walker, Rhyan, Jenkins, Banks, Tom, Morgan, Belton) - 8 if you count Kinnard. Monk will probably make it. I think Telfort and Jennings might be PS candidates, but no more. And I wouldn't be shocked if they don't even make the PS.

lol you are grossly miscategorizing a discussion on what could happen with when someone says a prediction….

I had to go back and read because I was lost. You never predicted a trade. Just idle chit chat about Gute's potential thought process on draft assets. There are a number of guys that I want on the 53, but if at 3pm he has traded someone for assets I wouldn't be shocked.

You want well long haul players but also very hard decision and choice to make. When it comes down to the 53-man roster.

Get over me. Thank you. I will pray for you.

Look - I am one of the most patient individuals and have unlike many here a refusal to ignore or block other's, but I also don't ignore folks antics. I made no claims or attacks your direction, nor did I miscategorize anything you said - so you're "dismissal" of me is misguided and the tone and nature of your behavior leads me to have a strong assumption your closing statement of prayer is yet again a misguided attempt to appear different than you're behavior indicates.

We need more thoughts and folks willing to express opinions here, but keep it mature and keep it respectful.

Getting back to people and things that matter...

A big storyline today will be Gute finding a way to keep Isaiah Simmons on this team.

I like the extra option Simmons gives Haf at LB. I also like his contributions to special teams. This one is a no brainer.

Simmons value to a team anymore is I'd say nearly entirely special teams...his processing skills and football IQ has struggled ever since entering the league to come close to what his physical skillsets offer. It's why he excels so incredibly well at limited task reps and ST's you have a role and you go do it...there is very little processing on the fly and audibles if you will. IF Simmons makes the 53, he is a very interesting piece for Hafley to have at his disposal but he for sure is a limited backer who has proven diverse coverage scheme calls is something he simply cannot be depended upon for. He is one of a few of the guys that truly are right there on the bubble due to play exhibited...I'd throw Hardman, Fitzpatrick and Monk in there as well for guys right on the edge of making or missing.

You obviously don't know much about tyni. He's a fan who does deep dives on everything. If he says something, it's based on one heck of a lot of research and information he gets from various sources. He's not an "average fan" who sits in front of a TV munching Cheetos and passing gas while yelling that some player is a bum, cut him, because he missed a tackle.

I disagree with him at times, and he with me, but we always make it a point to state our opinions with facts and in a respectful way. That's the beauty of this board. We're all into being friends. We respect each other.

I believe you said this in a light-hearted way but emojis don't really convey that.
