[QUOTE="Pokerbrat2000, post: 1057434, member: 7261"] Thought about a contract "rework" myself with Garrett. I think the problem the Browns would face is that all the "money" was shoved out via the "option prorated". They have already benefited from that over the last 4 seasons. Guessing the NFL would simply say "No, you chose to account for it that way, you can't reverse the contract and start over." Who knows though, I could be wrong. I think this is the danger a team faces when signing huge deals and then expecting to "pay for them later". However, those contracts do work out when said player doesn't get injured, plays at the same or a higher level and is happy sticking with that team for the entirety of the contract. The Browns have to feel pretty good about the fact that they have had one of the best defensive players in the NFL, playing at a high level, while staying healthy and all for "just" $25M/season. The big question though; "Does Myles now want out of Cleveland?" I did some searching to see if anyone else entertained the idea of trading Garrett. There were a bunch of them. The article below points out the absurdity of some writers of these "articles". Sure he talks about how he might be traded to the Cardinals, but like the other articles, doesn't account for the huge impact of his dead cap hit. Maybe NFL contract guru's know the answer, but to just blatantly write about a trade, without discussing the financial nuts and bolts is just irresponsible journalism. The Browns are currently looking at a $72.935 million cap charge for the Watson deal in 2025. They owe him $92 million in cash for 2025 and 2026. Someone has been drinking at the cap desk over there in Cleveland!
