So he’s got 1 yr as a 3-4 DE and 1.5 year as a 4-3 Edge after having very minimal College experience and Iowa is not a program you get used as a Full time Freshman to begin with. They full on rotate their young players and matter of fact Lukas technically had less snaps in his Sophomore season. So he’s got basically a 1 year FULL load of live competition from the Hawkeyes. Imo 90% chance he’s there at #15 and 70% he’s there at #20 overall. Just no need to reach we could’ve pulled a J’aire trade back and forth type move and had him at #17 or #19 overall imo. I’m hoping a new DC with experience like Gannon can get a pulse on what is his best suited role. We’ve got 1 year to get him ramped up
I’ll play, but I’ll be first to admit idk what the heck is going on with Lukas. Is it scheme, is it positional fit, is it experience. Idk. If I were taking his defense counsel I’d offer that he’s a drafted Sophomore. So what’s somewhat unusual in real time is we have a 24yr old player in a contract year. How often can we say that? Top that off he gets drafted into a 3-4, then immediately flips to a 4-3 and in his 2nd season misses the bulk of the season. I think I recall he only played regular (I’m not talking 22% snaps as regular) like 6 or 7 games in 2025. Just an unusual pick he should’ve stayed in College 1 more season. RAW. I’m not excusing him. I’m also not agreeing with his draft placement. I’m also not suggesting that he gets a pass on underperforming to draft placement. I was surprised at the Time we used our Rodgers move up to get him. Imo 90% chance he’s there at #15 and 70% he’s there at #20 overall. Just no need to reach we could’ve pulled a J’aire trade back and forth type move and had him at #17 or #19 overall imo. Plus netted another Day 2 prospect. He’s also a tweener. He’s gifted for sure but is he a DE? Those guys are rarely 270lb but I suppose there’s Hass Red**** type exceptions. Also the league has size descended on DL and increased on OL. He’s also not really who you want at OLB dropping into coverage imo. I’m hoping a new DC with experience like Gannon can get a pulse on what is his best suited role. We’ve got 1 year to get him ramped up
