Julius peppers signed for 3.5 million that was a good signing. So I'd say 5 million a year is a good average number for a quality free agent. I think you can resign Morgan Burnett for 5 m a year which would be a good signing or a better signing might be Tre Boston for 6 m a year who knows. Also I think if as a gm you plan to keep any of the 3 Cobb Nelson or Matthews beyound 2018 you extend them now and lower that cap number down to what they could likely expect on the open market. For Matthews I say that's in the 7/8 m a year on a 3 year deal similar to what peppers signed here. Right there you save 3.4 m. Nelson he's a 5/6 m player probably on nothing more than a 1y ear deal elsewhere. Also I think he'd retire rather than play elsewhere so let's say 5 m year by adding 2 years. That's 5.4 m saved in 2018. As for Cobb if you don't want him after 2018 then just leave him be or cut him. If you wanna extend him he's a 5/6 m year guy. Let's say you extend him at 6m for 2 extra years. You save 3.5 m. Then you have 3 quality wr locked in for 3 seasons while the receivers you select high in the draft (Christian Kirk) this year and in 2019 develop. Also you end up with 25.8 m in cap space in 2018 going off the 13.5 number. The problem you end up with is Cobb is best in slot and Nelson at this point is best there too. So you need someone outside. That's where. Signing jimmy graham comes in. MM loves to line up his big athletic fast te on the outside and there's nobody better for that role than graham. I'm guessing he's gonna be 7/8 m a year let's say 8 that still leaves you with 17.8 m. Then Burnett 5 m per and your down to 12.8 m. And this is assuming the contract structure is just evenly split which it won't be. Then sign Richard Rodgers for 2 m a year and cut Lance Kendricks to save 1.3 m and you've got 2 of your 3 tes. Draft mark Anthony or Troy fumagali and your set. You've also got 12 m in salary cap space left to do whatever. Extend Rodgers or sign another free agent for Pettine.

[QUOTE="thequick12, post: 758595, member: 9797"] Casey Hayward signed for like 3 years 15 million Micah Hyde signed for 5 years 30 million those are both good free agent signings. Julius peppers signed for 3.5 million that was a good signing. So I'd say 5 million a year is a good average number for a quality free agent.
