I heard that canada was nice. It would suck to be so far away from the NFL, but tell me this. What is the CFL like. I noticed that the goal posts are in the front of the endzone like it used to be in the NFL. I mean is the scoring the same or what?
Well, for the sake of telling you I am a Roughriders (Saskatchewan) fan and a Stampeders (Calgary) fan (they're rival teams, too). Yes the goal posts are in the front. touchdown is six, field goal is 3, extra point is one or two, that's all the same.
With a field goal: if you miss but still get the ball past the end zone, it counts for a point. Something about touchbacks I don't remember.
On punts and kickoffs, there is no fair catch. Instead, they have a 5-yard rule where nobody can be closer than five yards from the receiver prior to receiving the ball. The field is an extra 10 yards longer (every CFL fanatic tells me this is why the CFL is better than the NFL... yeah), the field's also... 5-15 yards wider (excuse my forgetfulness) and the endzones are about 30 yards deep, rather than three.
Offense means more in CFL than in NFL.
OH plus the hash lines are wider apart, like in NCAA.
It's still a good sport, but it doesn't get the money like the NFL does, so the players aren't as good (but can still handle an extra 10-yard length).
Oh, and Danielchile, it must suck that you can't even attend a CFL game, unless Brasil has a league. (Considering you guys and soccer, I doubt it). Although the weather must be nice, since I consider 26C above (which it is right now) very nice and warm and sunny.
Overall I like Canada, It's a nice place to live. And apparently we're ranked the number one place people would like to visit. (Iran was last HAHAHA)
Oh, by the way. Our dollar is getting pretty close to par to the American dollar now. (.92-ish)
Sorry, I guess I went off on a little talk about Canadian current events.
Oh, in case you guys were wondering, I live in Canada's equivalent to Texas; Calgary, Alberta.
Oil rich and big on cowboys (anyone ever been to the Calgary Stampede?).
Our American sister-city is Phoenix, AZ (I think this is because a lot of he houses down there are owned by Calgarians)
Okay, I'll stop, 'eh?
