Former viking Brian Williams arrested for DUI.
"Officers said they pulled over Williams when they saw his 2006 Bentley swerving on Bay Street downtown early Saturday morning. According to the arrest report, the officer noticed an odor of alcohol on Williams, but he denied that he was drinking."

When Williams was asked to get out of the car, officers said he stumbled and said, "I ain't gonna blow." After he was arrested on DUI charges and placed in the back-seat cage of the patrol car, police said he used racial slurs toward the arresting officer and was profane and cursing the entire time.

Bengals linebacker O'Dell Thurman has been arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Police arrested Thurman just after 3 a.m. Monday after spotting him driving left of center a block away from their checkpoint in East End, in the 3800 block of Kellogg Avenue.

The second-year linebacker currently is serving a four-game suspension for violations of the league's substance abuse policy.

While on suspension,
Driving your buddies vehicle on the wrong side of the road as you approach a police checkpoint at 3 am while DUI and a bunch of loud drunks as passengers. Brilliant!!

How soon until he is out of the league like Onterio Smith and Ricky Williams?

San Diego Chargers safety Terrence Kiel was arrested Tuesday on drug-related charges.
Kiel was charged with possession, possession for sale, and transportation of a controlled substance, sources told ESPN.
The law enforcement sources said several plain clothes DEA agents appeared at the Chargers' facility Tuesday morning with an arrest warrant, searched his locker and car, and took Kiel away.
The Chargers, who are coming off a bye week, were on the practice field at the time.
In a statement, team spokesman Bill Johnston said: "We're aware of an off-the-field situation involving Terrence Kiel and we're monitoring the situation. Due to the personal nature of the ongoing legal investigation, the Chargers are withholding further comment until the matter is resolved legally."
Kiel was booked and released after posting $150,000 bond.
Chargers officials were not returning phone calls Tuesday night. Kiel and his agent also could not be reached for comment.
Kiel, a fourth-year veteran from Texas A&M, is the starting strong safety for the 2-0 Chargers, who play the 3-0 Ravens on Sunday. Kiel's status for the game is unclear.
Drafted in the second round in 2003, Kiel was expected to start that season for the Chargers before he was shot three times in an attempted carjacking in Houston in July of that year.
Kiel is making $500,000 this year and has two years left on his contract.
This is the second major off-field incident of the season for the Chargers. Linebacker Steve Foley was shot three times Sep. 3 when he confronted an off-duty police officer who had followed his vehicle on suspicion of drunken driving.

Denver Broncos safety Sam Brandon turned himself in to Douglas County court officials Wednesday after a warrant was issued for his arrest, prosecutors said.

Brandon, 27, faces a charge of violating a restraining order and violation of his bond conditions, both misdemeanors, district attorney spokeswoman Kathleen Walsh said.
Despite prosecutor objections, a judge released Brandon on a personal recognizance bond. He was due in court Nov. 17 for a pretrial conference on the new charges and a domestic violence case from July 2005.

Brandon was fingerprinted and photographed at the jail. Walsh did not release additional details.

Neither Broncos officials nor Brandon immediately returned a phone message left at the team's office.

Team spokesman Paul Kirk declined comment.

The season is not yet a month old and there have been 4 arrests!!

"Ravens return specialist B.J. Sams was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. This marks the second time in 14 months that he has been charged with drunken driving, which could result in a fine or suspension from the NFL.

Sams was stopped shortly before 2 a.m. on the outer loop of I-695 near Greenspring Avenue in Baltimore County, after his Chevrolet Tahoe had reportedly been swerving and nearly struck a vehicle on northbound Interstate 83, Maryland State Police said.

The trooper reported a strong odor of alcohol, and after further investigation, Sams was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.

It is unknown whether Sams was placed in the NFL's substance-abuse program after his first arrest. A player's status in the program is strictly confidential unless the NFL announces a player's suspension.

A second violation could result in a four-game suspension, according to the league substance-abuse policy. The decision is based on a review by the NFL commissioner."

"Lions safety Kenoy Kennedy was arrested early Friday morning in Inkster for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, the team said.

He was released on bond.

Kennedy is expected to be evaluated by the NFL for possible discipline under the collective bargaining agreement. This is believed to be his first scrape with the law as an NFL player, and any discipline would be minor.

He is the second member of the Lions organization to be arrested on an alcohol-related charge this season. Lions assistant coach Joe Cullen was suspended for the opening game against Seattle after two arrests in Dearborn: one for driving while intoxicated and another on charges of indecency."

"A San Diego Chargers player was arrested Monday on suspicion of domestic violence.
Markus Curry, 25, was pulled over and arrested at Interstate 805 near Plaza Boulevard around 11:23 a.m., said police.

Curry, a cornerback for the Chargers, was released by the team Sept. 30. He was subsequently added to the practice squad. On Monday, the team announced he was was let go from the squad.

No other information about the incident was released."

It seems he has a history as the article goes on to say:
Curry was arrested on a charge of domestic violence in 2001 when he was a freshman at the University of Michigan. According to press reports at the time, Curry was arrested in a college residence hall after getting into an altercation with a girlfriend. Curry pleaded guilty to an assault charge.

A Jacksonville Sheriff's Officer says he saw a dark SUV with flashing blue and white lights coming up behind him at a high rate a speed.

The officer thought an emergency vehicle was approaching so he moved over, according to a police report.

The SUV and two other vehicles raced past the officer, who clocked the SUV at 92 miles-per-hour in a posted 65 m.p.h. zone.

The officer caught up with and pulled over the SUV on Town Center Parkway.

McCray told the officer he had come across one of his teammates while driving and was just playing around. McCray also reportedly told the officer the blue and white lights had been in a previous car and that his mechanic switched them over to his new car.

The officer placed McCray under arrest. While searching McCray, the officer says he found two white pills in McCray's front pocket.

The pills were later identified by a poison control worker as hydrocodone and Tylenol.

Just before 2am this morning, starting left tackle Khalif Barnes was arrested off JTB for driving under the influence of alcohol, and traveling 101mph in a 60mph speed zone.

The arresting officer noted when he approached the car, Barnes had an odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath, and he also noticed his eyes were watery and bloodshot. Barnes agreed to a field sobriety test, and the officer stated he exhibited clues of impairment during that test. According to the report, Barnes stated he "had a Hennessy and coke at the club". He also told officers he only "had a sip at the show". Barnes also told police the odor of alcohol they smelled was from the dip he had in his mouth. 3 other people were in the car during the incident. All three are from California. Barnes himself is from San Diego, born there April 21, 1982. Officers say Barnes was tested with a breathalyzer just after 3am. He blew a .125 and a .121. The legal limit for driving with alcohol in your system is .08 in the state of Florida.

It is week 10 and with 10 arrests the NFL is maintaining its one player arrest/week average.

Edit for update:

http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/032107/met_8752250.shtml

Moments after his drunken-driving arrest in November, Jaguars offensive tackle Khalif Barnes launched into an obscenity-laced rant against Jacksonville police, perceived racism and playing in a "hick town."

"This is unbelievable, man, unbelievable being a pro athlete in Jacksonville. I can't wait to get out of here. Can't wait," Barnes said while handcuffed in the back of a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office patrol car. "Especially if you're black."

About 20 minutes later, still in the patrol car, he said, "Of all the places in the -- world that I came to this -- hick town. They -- hate us here.

"Why you even want to have a pro team here? What's the use? They don't even -- respect you."

Barnes' comments were taped by a video recorder in the car. A copy was obtained Tuesday by the Times-Union from the State Attorney's Office under Florida's public records law.

The newspaper also obtained the police recording of Barnes' late-night traffic stop and field sobriety tests, which are the subject of a motion by Barnes' lawyer to dismiss the charges. The motion was to have been argued in court Thursday, but the hearing has been postponed.

In the motion, attorney David Barksdale argues that police didn't have enough probable cause to arrest Barnes based on the field tests, a point the 24-year-old player repeatedly argued during his ride to the jail.

"If you get this on tape, this is very unfair. I passed all their tests," Barnes said immediately after being handcuffed and placed in the patrol car off Butler Boulevard.

Barnes declined comment, but his lawyer said he regrets the statements.

"Khalif has never been arrested before. Because he was upset, he said some things he wishes he hadn't said," Barksdale said. "Without question, Khalif loves Jacksonville, is excited about the upcoming season and hopes to finish his career as a Jaguar."

Jaguars spokesman Dan Edwards said the team hadn't seen the video and couldn't comment on its contents, which were described to him. The Times-Union offered to show him the video, but that offer was not accepted.

Co-owner Wayne Weaver responded in an e-mail that the Jaguars dealt with the drunken-driving incident appropriately.

"He understood that his conduct was unacceptable, and he apologized for embarrassing himself and his team," Weaver said. He didn't address Barnes' comments on the video.

Officer D.E. Cullen pulled Barnes over Nov. 10, saying his 2007 Mercedes passed him doing 101 mph near Butler and Gate Parkway. In the video, Barnes denied driving that fast and said his three passengers could confirm that.

Cullen said in his report that he smelled alcohol and noticed Barnes' eyes were watery and bloodshot. Barnes agreed to a field sobriety test and admitted having one drink at a club before the 10:30 p.m. traffic stop. He told Cullen the odor was from a bourbon-flavored tobacco dip in his mouth.

Later, the 309-pound lineman said he struggled with one part of the test because his legs were tired from practice that day. He didn't appear to slur his words. He insisted he wasn't drunk.

"You're lying," he told Cullen when the officer told Barnes he appeared impaired. "You're like a Republican politician right now."

Police said a blood-alcohol test administered at the jail showed Barnes' level was .12 percent. Florida considers a driver impaired at .08. Barnes was benched for that weekend's game, a 13-10 loss to Houston, and coach Jack Del Rio admonished him publicly.

"I thought he acted extremely selfishly from being out that late in the first place on a Friday night, to putting himself and other people in our community at risk," Del Rio said in his post-game news conference.

Weaver said Tuesday that Barnes was fined the maximum amount but wouldn't say how much. He said Barnes received counseling as a follow-up to the discipline.

Barnes appeared cooperative before his arrest, but his tone changed rapidly afterward. Though he never threatened the officer, he repeatedly blamed his arrest on racism and called Cullen a "*** devil that hates all colored people." He accused Cullen of arresting him "just because I'm a Jaguar."

"I can't wait to get out of your nice, wholesome city ... your racial equality city," Barnes said during the 50-minute video.

Cullen didn't respond to most of Barnes' diatribe and didn't appear on the video to provoke the situation.

Barnes was the third Jaguar arrested on traffic charges in a two-month span last season. He questioned why police focused on him and his teammates instead of criminals responsible for the city's high murder rate.

"You're going to make your quota this month, and how are you going to do it? You're going to get a Jag player," Barnes said.

Cornerback Brian Williams also used racial slurs after his September drunken-driving arrest but apologized a few days later. Williams, who initially pleaded no contest, also is fighting the charges in court.

Video of arrest can be found here:

Houston police arrested Texans offensive lineman Fred Weary Tuesday after he allegedly resisted arrest during a routine traffic stop.

Police sources told 11 News they were forced to Taser Weary during the confrontation.

Weary was pulled over near Boudreaux's Cajun Kitchen near Loop 610 and Fournace Tuesday afternoon.

Police stopped him because he didn't have a front license plate.
Officers say he refused to give them his driver's license, appeared aggitated and was verbally combative.
They say he pushed the male officer and that's when the female officer Tasered him.

At last check, Weary remained in jail and was expected to be charged with resisting arrest.

Team officials held a news conference where they released a one-sentence statement saying they "were gathering the facts" but had no other comment.

The Texans selected Weary in the third round of the 2002 draft.

He grew up in Alabama and played college ball at Tennessee.
************************************************************
Well how do you escalate a stop for no front license plate to resisting arrest and getting tasered??
Be combative and refuse to cooperate with police. When they keep asking for your identification you start a physical altercation by pushing the cops.

All I can think of is that commercial jingle "Real men of genius".

49ers receiver Bryant 'belligerent' in drunken-driving arrest
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/11/21/BAGAVMH8OR14.DTL

"Antonio Bryant was arrested Sunday night in San Mateo on suspicion of drunken driving, resisting arrest and reckless driving, after he was pulled over for speeding at more than 100 mph on Highway 101 and became "belligerent," authorities said today. "

A San Mateo police officer saw Bryant, 25, in Redwood City just before midnight Sunday driving north on the freeway in a 2005 orange Lamborghini at speeds "well over 100 mph,"

"He was initially contacted for reckless driving and excessive speed ... but officers noticed signs that he was under the influence and tried to get him to cooperate," Raffaelli said. "He was extremely uncooperative and belligerent to officers."
Officers had to resort to straps to "confine his legs in a sitting position" so they could get Bryant into a police car and ensure that he sat upright, he said.

"He was pretty verbally abusive and derogatory,"

Bryant, who lives in San Jose, was booked into San Mateo County Jail in Redwood City at 2:50 a.m. Monday and was released four hours later, according to jail officials. Bail was set at $5,000, but Bryant was released on his own recognizance.

Bryant established himself as a tumultuous talent dating back to his time at the University of Pittsburgh. As a sophomore at Pittsburgh, he won the Biletnikoff Award, presented to the best collegiate receiver, but was suspended twice by the university.

After being drafted by Dallas in the second round of the 2002 draft, Bryant threw a sweaty jersey at Cowboys coach Bill Parcells during practice. He was eventually traded to Cleveland in the middle of the 2004 season.

San Diego Charger cornerback Cletis Gordon was arrested by San Diego police early Monday morning in the city's Gaslamp Quarter on suspicion of drunk driving.
An officer on patrol pulled Gordon over at 6th and J Streets at 1:59 a.m. after witnessing what he considered to be erratic driving, police said.

Gordon, 23, was taken to downtown police headquarters where he was processed and then to jail. He was released after posting bail.

Gordon, who was undrafted out of Jackson State, has not played this season because of a wrist injury.

He is the fifth Charger to have a run-in with the law this year.

Linebacker Shaun Phillips was arrested last April on suspicion of obstructing or resisting an officer after an altercation downtown.

The same month, linebacker Steve Foley was arrested after involvement in a fight with three officers in University City. The District Attorney's office declined to file charges.

Foley was shot by an off-duty Coronado police officer in Poway Sept. 3after the officer stopped him on suspicion of erratic driving.

Cornerback Markus Curry was arrested in October on Interstate 805 in National City in connection with a domestic violence case.

Safety Terrence Kiel was arrested in September on charges involving the trafficking of prescription drugs.

Meanwhile, linebacker Shawne Merriman is serving a four-game suspension for violation of the National Football League rule regarding steroid use.

Jones was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with driving under the influence, sources said.

Jones, driving alone, was stopped by police in Nassau County, L.I., at approximately 4 a.m., a source said. He didn’t participate in Saturday’s team meeting and walk-through and was declared inactive for the game.

Coach Eric Mangini was asked about Jones in today’s news conference, saying the third-year lineman didn’t play because of “a coaching decision.” He didn’t elaborate.

Jones was fined $20,000 by the team, a source said. He will be subject to the NFL’s substance-abuse program.

As a freshman at Kansas, Jones was involved in a serious car crash that required a three-day stay in ICU with head injuries. There was no report of alcohol being involved; Jones said the car blew a tire and rolled twice.

A St. Louis Rams player has been issued a summons after allegedly hitting a bar patron with a broken bottle during a fight at a popular downtown west nightclub.

St. Louis police confirm the incident occurred at about 2 a.m. Monday, about 11 hours after the Rams' loss to the Arizona Cardinals Sunday afternoon.

According to police, 22-year-old Dominique Byrd, a tight end, was involved in an altercation at the Pepper Lounge Night Club in the 2000 block of Locust Street.

Witnesses say Byrd broke a bottle and then stabbed a patron in the face during the argument.

Police detained the 6'2'', 254-pound pro football player and then issued the summons. Police officials say they're waiting for more information from the circuit attorney's office before releasing any more information. However, charges could be filed later Monday.

Byrd has been on the inactive list most of this season.

Update on Dominique Byrd. Apparently, he was unable to control himself in public and was groping women. One complained to her date/boyfriend who then asked Byrd to stop. Byrd then responded in the savage crimminal fashion he did.

Prosecutors charged Rams rookie tight end Dominique Byrd on Monday with felony assault for allegedly breaking a beer bottle against a man's forehead in an early-morning fracas at a St. Louis bar.

Byrd, 22, also was charged with misdemeanor assault for allegedly grabbing a woman's buttocks in the bar, the Pepper Lounge at 2005 Locust Street.

It happened about 1:30 a.m. Monday, police said. Byrd was not arrested at the time, but surrendered after being charged, and was booked, fingerprinted and photographed. On Monday evening, he was in the process of posting bond.

He is charged with second-degree assault, third-degree assault and armed criminal action.

Police said Byrd had grabbed a woman's buttocks in the lounge, and a 30-year-old man nearby had words with him about it. During a brief but heated quarrel, Byrd grabbed a beer bottle and hit the man in the forehead, officials said.

The victim suffered two cuts on his forehead and one on his cheek, and went to a hospital for stitches, police said. Byrd suffered a minor cut on his hand and declined medical treatment.

Rams head coach Scott Linehan said Monday: "I know he has legal counsel. It's also been turned over to NFL Security. And when it's resolved, I will comment on it"

Asked about Byrd's standing with the team, Linehan said: "Until it's resolved legally, there's really no change in status.

ANOTHER CRIMMINAL BENGAL
Deltha O'Neal

http://www.twincities.com/mld/twincities/sports/football/nfl/green_bay_packers/16203265.htm

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Deltha O'Neal was charged with driving while intoxicated early Saturday after being stopped at a traffic checkpoint.

The two-time Pro Bowl player had a blood-alcohol level of 0.10, above Ohio's legal limit of 0.08, the State Highway Patrol said. O'Neal was alone in his car and arrested at the scene, Sergeant Kevin Long said. O'Neal took a breath test and was released,

He is to appear in Clermont County Municipal Court on Dec. 12. The seven-year veteran is the eighth Bengals player arrested this year. Rookie receiver Reggie McNeal was charged with resisting arrest this week outside a Houston nightclub.

Bengals spokesman Jack Brennan said Saturday he was unaware of this latest arrest.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Chicago Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson was charged Thursday with not having a gun owner identification card after six firearms were found at his Gurnee home.

The misdemeanor charge carries a penalty of up to a year in jail upon conviction, said Jeff Pavletic, first assistant state's attorney in Lake County.

Gurnee Police issued a warrant and searched Johnson's home, coach Lovie Smith said.

Johnson turned himself in to Gurnee police, posted bond and was released Thursday night, Police Chief Robert Jones told a news conference.

"It definitely is a concern because Tank has had to deal with some things like this in the past. Yes, it definitely is a concern," Smith said before charges were filed.

According to the Tribune, a man was led from the home in handcuffs by police.
