Yeah looking at Morgan versus Mims, Morgan had 37 starts at LT and Mims had 7. Barton projected as a G and Guyton could only play LT. Morgan was Gluten's guy and he took him. Not ****, not risky, just a solid pick.

Agree. Gluten got his guy at T, and while the top corners are off the board, there is plenty of talent left to fill needs and/or build depth. It should be an interesting day two in the draft.

Yeah I'm nor crazy about guys that play two positions, in this case, slot DB and S.

Agreed Krabs. Morgan is maybe there at #41. But Gluten had his eyes on him and wasn't going to risk losing him, and there weren';t any better choices IMO. He could have traded back and maybe still been able to get Morgan. But GMs know a lot more about the fine details of these guys than we do.

And Barton and Morgan are different players. Morgan is an experienced, 3 year player at LT. He can also very likely play any T or G position on the line, and that versatility is valued in GB. Barton projects as a G/C. While the Packers will still take a G or G/C, that wasn't as important as...

Good points. Barton was a popular pick, but he projects at G or C, not T. And Morgan is a very versatile guy and has 3 full seasons at LT with Arizona. I think he might have been there at #41, giving Gluten an opportunity to trade back. I'm thinking he tried that and didn't get any takers...

I like the pick. Morgan has a ton of experience with 37 starts at LT for Arizona. He's fully recovered from a 2022 ACL tear, and he's versatile. I think he is better than Barton and Guyton, who went after him. But I agree with you, it does look like a reach, based on mock drafts at lest. I...

Agreed. Arnold and Mitchell really dropped, and DeJean is still available, so is Edgerrin Cooper at LB. And Valentine played well last year at CB, so I'm fine with the Morgan pick. It solidifies the line, protects Love, and should help the run game (Morgan is supposed to be a good run...

Looks like we were both wrong about Gluten taking a CB. I have a feeling that he just didn't see value in either Wiggins or Kool-Aid at #25, and Mitchell and Arnold were off the board. I'm a little bummed. On the bright side Valentine played well at CB last year, and he can still add some...

My guess is that Gluten trades up so he can get either Quinyon Mitchell or Terrion Arnold. Wiggins and Kool-Aid will probably drop to 25 if he wants to wait. Anyway that's what I think he'll do. There's still time to get an Olineman with one of the first 5 picks, hopefully LB Edgerrin Cooper...

Good points. I don't think giving him an extension matters if it's now or mid-season. I'd rather not have him distracted with it - just give him his $50 mil/3 year contract. Not sure about contract length, just guessing. Also guessing he'll get $100 mil guaranteed.

Gotcha. Yeah it sure sounds like they're gonna cut a new deal before the season starts. Probably $50 mil year for 3 years. If they wait until mid-season and he produces as well as the second half of last year, the price could go up a bit, and he will certainly be entertaining other offers. I...

Yeah it's not a perfect world. Just as disgusting to see a failed exec leave a company and its customers in tatters while he or she scampers away with what's left in the cash account. For all but a very few, careers are "pay to produce". which is the fair way to do things.

I don't think Krabs was comparing them as equal in skillset, only that a true CB would be preferable to a Swiss army knife, as you note, with DeJean. To me the difference is that DeJean may be there at #25. Wiggins and the other true perimeter CBs will be long gone.

I agree with you. Problem is Wiggins is unlikely to be there at #25. If Gluten does trade into the top 15 to grab a CB, I prefer Terrion Arnold. But there are 3 or 4 CBs who will go early, including Quinyon Mitchell, and any of them would be fine. DeJean projects as a S IMO, or a slot...
