Studs:
Love. I was wrong about him -- he does have what it takes. It's amazing how quickly he went from pretty dreadful to top tier. I've always been a fan of his demeanor, his poise and his toughness. My concerns were decision-making and accuracy. How does a guy go from woefully...
I haven't been able to watch too many games this season for a variety of reasons, but I'm glad I was able to catch this one. Studs and duds have already been covered, but I'd give an extra high five to Melton. He made some clutch grabs.
I'm willing to step up and eat some crow -- I didn't...
That was simply another poor decision and poor throw from Love, of which he has a bountiful supply. I think Toure was interfered with -- and it might have been called without the interception. The defender was holding Toure's arms down just as the throw was about to arrive. But the ball...
Could have and should have offered it to Holmgren. That was our best chance of a Super Bowl repeat. It was a glaring error to offer it to Sherman, as I think many of us knew at the time.
I'd be thrilled to have either one. Favre was a lot of fun to watch, but also frustrating with the INTs. Rodgers in his prime was magnificent to watch, though it was frustrating to watch him hold the ball too long and take unnecessary sacks. I voted for Rodgers because of his overall...
What they have in common is that the Packers' weaknesses have been blindingly evident in their losses. The weaknesses were visible in the wins, too, but wins against weak opponents tends to give fans false hope.
I wouldn't describe it as a total rebuild unless there are significant changes to the coaching staff and/or front office. But yes, as far as the roster is concerned it's a rebuild. I don't have much faith in the current building blocks apart from Gary, Clark, Jenkins, Watson and Doubs. Maybe...
Duds:
The Packers organization. This is not a fun team to watch. The offense is abysmal. The defense ranges between okay and terrible. Everybody from the top down is responsible.
I think this season is a write-off. It is the year to find out what they have in Love (sneak preview: not...
Duds:
MLF, Barry and Gute.
MLF: what was the thinking behind that offensive game plan? I'm increasingly convinced that 13-3 seasons were flukes, driven by hero ball from Rodgers and a lot of luck. MLF has not shown me any indication of being an offensive genius.
Barry: he's either a lousy...
I think 8 or 9 wins is basically the definition of mediocre in the NFL. You could say that they should be mediocre because they're young. Still, it's on the front office that they are this young. Will the youngsters get better? Some of them. Some will get worse, some will get injured.
Hard for me to pick studs and duds when everything connected to the organization at this time seems to be mediocre. The season is young, but my impression is that we have a mediocre head coach (the 13 win seasons were more of a fluke than we thought), a worse than mediocre defensive...
Agreed. I prefer that Rodgers stays another year. I think he can play better than he did last season, and doubt that Love's ceiling is any higher than mediocre starter/decent backup. If Rodgers wants to play another year in GB, I'd say let him. You're paying him anyway. If he wants to...
Two 8-8 teams fighting for one spot. The Lions are definitely improved. Jamaal Williams has come into his own with them. Swift is dangerous. St. Brown makes me wish we'd drafted him instead of his brother.
The Packers this year have a record that indicates mediocrity, and deservedly so...
