Here we go. We are now at the end of the NFL's second season. Tomorrow, we begin the Super Bowl (eh, Draft) of the off season. Literally folks, this is the only game IN THE WORLD right now! This isn't the main stage, its the ONLY stage.
I just ran a 4 rounder today and came away with the following haul. I expect the probability of such a draft is zero to minus 50, but I'd take it any day.
30: R1P30 DL ROSS BLACKLOCK TCU
62: R2P30WR JALEN REAGOR TCU
94: R3P30RB J.K. DOBBINS OHIO STATE
136: R4P30LB TROY DYE OREGON
I'd take that trade in a heartbeat. This kid's YAC is other worldly. And to get another high pick for him is icing on the cake.
I'm not a fan of Ruiz with that extra pick though. I would go for the another WR, or a top TE or high end RB there I think. Really max our our weapon opportunity...
I am coming to the conclusion that the 2020 NFL season may not happen, or at most maybe a half season. Teams can't draft based on half information and I think it will get postponed to maybe June or even July. Definitely no off season.
My latest 3 round mock:
1: RB JONATHAN TAYLOR- WISCONSIN
2: WR JALEN REAGOR- TCU
3: TE ADAM TRAUTMAN- DAYTON
I figure we can give up a few points with these offensive weapon additions. Could have grabbed Mims in the 1st but looking forward, may not be able to pay Jones what he's gonna get on...
TikTok - Tyler Ervin is now exposed. Lets get that kid signed up post-haste. I think Goodson and Campbell are also cheap options that I would pursue, at least for one or two year contracts.
The rest, are low or non priorities.
The discussion of the moment suggests postponing the draft until mid May and FA until??? I can see the draft postponement to allow for interviews and pro-days to pick back up, but
FA . . . not. There is no need to stop every piece of business with the NFL, only large gatherings. Otherwise...
The Draft in Vegas I think is pretty much over with. The draft however can be done digitally and broadcast with minimal concentration of people. Analysts can broadcast from their studios and the Commish can announce from his own desk if he wants.
After Ruggs' 40 time I doubt he falls.
Unless a top talent inexplicably falls to us, I'm thinking this might be a prime year for a trade down say with Carolina for their #38 pick in Rd 2 plus swapping our 94 in the 3rd for their #69 in the 3rd. It basically costs them a drop in the 3rd round...
Just ran a 4 Rd mock and it came out mind numbingly woa. This is HIGHLY unlikely to the point of impossible but hey, its what it was. I had the choice of getting Zach Braun in Rd 2 instead of my pick and almost did, but this wild vision stuck in my head and went a different direction.
30...
I'm not a talent evaluator. I don't watch college games so I couldn't tell you about prospects beyond their numbers and professional evaluators opinions. So which one? Dunno. Just make it the right one cause we could use both positions.
