Yeah, I would have been tempted to go. Especially because we are flying to and from PHX and Glendale is just around the corner....
So I'll try to get me tickets for the Cactus League instead though I find Baseball quite boring if Im honest....

Edit: I did it, got tickets for Brewers against Rockies on March, 20th in Scottsdale.
At least it had to be a team from Wisconsin

I'll take a stab at an opposing viewpoint on this one PF71.

I think Russia absolutely deserves the World Cup. They did a great job on the Olympics (apart from the rooms not being ready). Taking the World Cup away from Russia would not punish Putin really, it would punish the Russian people, which by the way, most hate what Putin says/does. The Russian people absolutely deserve to host the World Cup.

Think of it this way. The USA has invaded other foreign countries, sometimes without approvals from world governing bodies, and sometimes we had allies join us in those invasions. Should the USA be punished in such a way to not host a World Cup or those countries who allied with us on those invasions... something to think about.

I think Russia could do a great job on hosting the World Cup.

I'm more concerned with the Qatar World Cup. We all know the bribes were paid for the votes and that World Cup should be stripped immediately. I know Sandolf disagrees with me on this issue and that's fine. But I don't think Qatar should have ever been a suitable bid.

He should be made to pay the price and Russia stripped of the host nation status. (Highly unlikely this is going to happen though) and he knows it he's is the leader of the Russian people and they allegedly voted him in. You bet it would his ego would take an almighty pounding.

I see your point regarding US foreign interventions but so far its not actually tried to annex Iraq and Afghanistan into the Union as far as i know.

However i agree with you on the Qatar thing, its an absolute joke that that they got it. Anyway thats enough of the stupid politics from me.

And I respect your viewpoints as well. I just forgot to mention one other thing. I don't see Crimea revolting against the annex. In fact, it seems clear they wanted to be part of Russia again. In that case, I say all is good. Win-win situation unless Ukraine vehemently opposes the annex, however, I haven't noticed any revolt by Ukrainians against the annex. But who knows really. And that's all the politics I care to mention too.

So let's pull the rug on Qatar and call it good!

Some of this is about language; some of it is about culture; but as is your example, it's what you get for your tax dollar (Ruble) which is important. Whoever is going to take responsibility for the Ukraine is going to have to pump some serious money in there. The EU is not going to be real excited about that.
