Packers cornerback Charles Woodson has been named the NFC's Defensive Player of the Month for September.

In the season's first three games, Woodson has intercepted three passes, which ties him for first in the NFL with safety Darren Sharper of New Orleans and safety Michael Huff of Oakland. He returned one of those interceptions 37 yards for a touchdown against Cincinnati in Week 2, and his interception in the fourth quarter last week in St. Louis set up the Packers' game-clinching score.

Woodson also leads the team with 24 tackles (21 solo). In the last two weeks, he has reached double digits in tackles in back-to-back games for the first time in his 12-year career.

Woodson's interception return for a touchdown against the Bengals was his fifth with the Packers, tying him for second in team history in that category with Sharper and Bobby Dillon. He trails only Herb Adderley, who had seven.
