First off, let me say this, out of all the NFC teams, there is no team that I as a steeler fan respect, and fear more than the Green Bay Packers.

Aaron Rodgers is looking to be an absolutely devastating elite NFL QB, and he is going to be dangerous to us. If you guys play how the Saints, or the Patriots played us, it will be a long game.

The defenses appear to be absolute mirror images in design, but... their are differences statwise, but hey, stats dont matter all that much, its any given sunday. (My differences being your pass D is much better than ours, and our run defense is better (dont mean it arrogantly, but number one run D does speak for itself.)

I think it will be a memorable game, and most likely win or lose, i think i will have a great time watching it, and understanding it for how it will be looked at in the future.

One thing I would like to address however, is all the heat I see given to Ben Roethlisberger, while I think that his actions are inexcuseable, *Your an NFL quarterback, going out partying was the wrong thing to do*, i have read all the evidence and gave an open mind to the whole thing. There are a couple of things to be taken into consideration, and I was ready to throw him under the bus, and be done with him, burn his jersey and all, but this is what i came across.

1. The girl had followed him all night, leaving when he left, and going to the next bar he was at.
2. She said it was ... ugh, how can i say this PG... unprotected, yet there was less than a billionth of a gram of DNA, and it belonged to another man she had "relations" with about an hour earlier in the night.
3. She had a name tag on saying DTF (Down to.....), while this can just be classified as nothing, it does speak to this females character.
4. She was so drunk, when the police officer said "Where you sexually assaulted" She said no. When he asked "Did the two of you have "relations" she said, i dont think so, im not sure.

All i mean buy this is, please, dont give in to the media, there are things that they purposely dont tell you, because guess what, the dirty stuff sells.

Plus, Ben's story is one of the ones made public. there are many other ****** assault cases out there, you just dont hear about them, most of which, looking for a paycheck.

Mark Sanchez
Charged with ****** asssault while in USC.

Shaun Rodgers, browns player, brought a gun on an airplane, not even suspended.

Ray Lewis, he was a part of 2 murders, got off due to testifying against 2 of his life long friends and pleaing down to probation.

Heck, there was a story about the packers (and no i dont believe it, im just saying, the media does what it can for attention)

If we are to crucify one player, (i was about to with Ben), shouldnt we crucify all athletes accused of crimes? And what do we do if they are Charged, and then, how should we react when found guilty is all I am saying.

Im not liking Ben off the field, but to call him a rapi-st, thug, or criminal i find a bit harsh, because he has a. not been charged with a sexuall assault (cant really say rap-ist) b. never been charged with a crime, so technically not a criminal.

I will say this, ben was a horrible teammate, and arrogant person giving into his newfound starpower, he felt invincible. (He won his first 15 games as a starter) the team was 15-1 his rookie season, and went to the afc championship game, yeah, that would make me a self centered person, egoistic, feeling like god.

I just wanted to show, not all steelers fans are dumb and arrogant, or uninformed. Im sorry if i offended someone.

But heres to a great game! I think this will be a memorable one, i have that feeling. :happy0005:

Good post.

I think packer fans are making way to big of a deal out of the **** accusations. Also think people blew the ray lewis murder charge up more than it should have been. It became a racial thing sadly. But if we are going to talk about the accusations on ben I have to ask, how much smoke before steeler fans think there is a fire? Would a 3 accuser make you think there is a pattern? Or would it take more?

I dont know what happened in Georgia but I put together from enough people that he is/was a complete *sshole. I think its surprising how many steeler fans were ready to cut him/trade him/ just be done with him and then were just as quick to take him back 2 months later. Do people change that quick? Who knows. I dont think we will know what kind of person he is until he and his teammates retire.

Well, the second one was smoke for me, and i didnt mean i was serious about the ray lewis thing, just using it as an example, as everyone has forgot about it for now.

The first allegation, the chick was a nutjob, she had pulled this story (i think it was 4 times before), because of all the rich golfers staying at the hotel she worked at.

The second allegation i sat there and was like.... what the h*ll ben... but i read into the facts and I dont think he did it. but, if there is a 3rd, (god forbid). He is no longer a steeler, guarantee you that.

I think he became an a**hole, when he had insane amounts of sucess as a rookie, 15 wins to start his career, afc championship, i think he felt he was above the team, because, you take a team that did poorly in the years before him, and insert him and obtain a 15-1 season, he felt like he was what they were missing and without him they were nothing, atleast is my opinion.

Why do you, Steelersfan, feel the need to sign up, come over to a Packers board to defend the Steelers quarter back?
You could have let sleeping dogs lie.
You could have kept the lid on this can of worms.
So why disturb the dog?
Why open the can?

I really want to get an understanding why Steelers fans feel this need to come onto a Packers board to stir up crud that doesn't need to be stirred in the first place.

It's not my thing to sign up for other boards of other teams. I just like to be here to discuss football with Packers fans only.

So why this need to come here when you don't have to in the first place?

I am sorry, i probably shouldnt have done that, and it wasnt my intent, to be honest, i had wished to only talk about the game, and then i had read around seeing some things said, and when i had posted this, i guess i let my mind run a bit to much. =(

lets move it to more of a game conversation.

Whats the player most packer fans dont know about on the steelers that could have an impact on the game?

How is your return game? We seem to give up HUGE returns time to time and was wondering what kind of threat you think the steelers return game poses?

So. to keep this about the game, which i should have started with in the first place, are there any matchups that make you cringe, aka, to me the matchup that makes me cringe is the packers WR's vs our dbs, Rodgers blasted us for 388, im interested to see how Coach Lebeau makes his changes.

My biggest fear is you guys getting 5-6 yards per carry and controlling the clock the whole game. The less you throw it the more worried I become.

Just saw your post, my reply for unknown player to have an impact, look for the Rookie WR's Emmanuel Sanders, and Antonio Brown to have an impact, your corners are good, and last time we played you, yes we threw for 500, but... that wont be repeated, i dont think you guys will let ben break down the play outside of the pocket again. So our 3 and 4 WR have to make the plays, and our tight end, from what i hear you guys have had trouble with Tight ends.

Return game - our return game is average, only one taken to the house off a reverse on the opening kickoff in week 2, our special teams are mediocre

There has been discussion about Roethlisberger before here in this forum. I've defended the guy, and still believe that there hasn't been enough evidence to even prossecute the guy.

That being said, him being accused of ****** assault before, it's innexcusable that he was in a situation where he could be accused again. And not only that, every talk about him, personally, indicated that he was, well, a scumbag. Thus the constant jokes and aggressions towards him.

When you contrast him with Rodgers, who has handled the Favre situation like no other could, and has inumerous charitable actions on his name, both public, but specially in a secret, private manner, it's easy to see why he's wildly considered as a better guy than Ben.

But as far as legal problems go, he's innocent till proven guilty, and should be treated as such.

Last time we played you Jarrett Bush and Josh Bell were major contributors...

Bush has been much better as a ST player, but believe me, Packers fans shiver when thinking about him playing D.

Remember William Gay last year? Yeah, both of them. That bad.

Plus, Tramon Williams was an average corner. He has surged out of nowhere to become a trully shutdown corner. If he allowed 5 tds the whole season, I'd be surprised. He has shut down everybody, DeSean Jackson, Roddy White, Miles Austin...

Last year we had BIG coverage breakdowns. Now in their second year in the system, those are rare. Couple that with the fact that, except for Peprah, who is the weak link in the secondary, every player on our secondary has great hands, and it's easy to see why Packers fans and most pundits consider our secondary to be the best in the league.

If I was going to name a player you guys might not know real well but could Sunday, it would be one of the linebackers Walden, Zombo, or Bishop.

Yeah, your secondary has for sure stepped up, that 500 wont happen, that was due to a defense in its first year, (corners have gotten better, sam sheilds i hope i got his name right, looks like a stud), you guys seem to be meshing, i think for us to have any sucess on offense, we have to run, keep your guys honest, and use play action, but our OC is probably to dumb to know that hehe.

Also, about william gay, he is the nickelback now, not the number 2 back, which is probably as bad because james jones can kill us.

James Jones has to be able to hold onto the ball for him to be a problem. I think he spent his *** of good catches in the last two games, so he's due for a screw up.

The only problem with that though is Jones has had problems catching the ball. He seems to make the tough catches but not the easy ones. Rodgers' numbers would be a lot better if his receivers would catch the balls that are too them.

Through out the pressured parts of the season we have had flavor of the game players, Starks, Walden, Green, and Zombo who have stepped up in games. And that is a hard part to counter. I am not saying those players aren't great, but they have had flashes and to any opposing team I think that is scary. If I had to take a guess at any player it would be Quarless, only because he has yet to step up.

I've posted about the Ben situation so many times it's ridiculous. My thoughts are he didn't do anything different from most rich, single guys. He goes out to have some fun and pick up women. Does that make him an arrogant ****? I don't know and really don't care. I would care if I thought he attacked any person but after having sifted through as much info on the subject that I could find I think he did not do that. JMO.

As far as charities go Ben is heavily involved in them. He has bought several police departments state of the art body armor for all personnel. He personally escorted a Make-a-Wish kid who wanted to visit the Steelers around the facilities. He constantly runs football camps for inner city kids that normally couldn't afford to attend. The guy has really done some great things for the community but he doesn't publicize them.

An interesting article with a viewpoint of the Ben incident was written by Jason Whitlock. It is a viewpoint that was speculated about on the Steeler boards but you would never hear it on BSPN or the NFL Network. The article is here.

Now for the stuff that I come here for. The match-up that worries me the most is your passing game against our DBs. Our pass defense has been playing great lately but they have not faced an air attack like yours. Rodgers is obviously a great QB and he has multiple dangerous targets to throw to. You have the ability to score quickly or use the passing game to control the ball.

There's been a lot of talk about Lawrence Timmons, I've seen some highlights of the guy and he reminds me a lot of Desmond Bishop

Dont be surprised to see Woodson covering each and everyone of the receiving threats of the steelers including Heath Miller

Bulaga's matchup against Woodley bothers me

Chad Clifton has faced a lot of great pass-rushers these last 5 weeks, Peppers 2x, Trent Cole, Osi, Tuck Abraham...all those guys are pro-bowlers...I believe harrison is better and stronger, but if clifton can hold his own against those guys, he has a chance to protect Rodgers' blindside effectively

James Starks worries me, he is going to be called upon to pass protect and if Rodgers trusts him too much their defense could get a big sack/fumble on Arod

I don't hate Ben because of the **** allegations.

I hate him because of this article: AN NFL SUPERSTAR'S REPULSIVE BEHAVIOR, THE ULTIMATE - 05.10.10 - SI Vault

Just curious but what part of the article caused you to hate him? I'm sure you know that the article was written to smear Ben. There are many half truths in this article. Unfortunately reporters don't report for accuracy anymore. They report to get a reaction. It was chic to bash Ben at that time and SI put it out. They got the reaction they wanted and couldn't care less if they mislead people or left out some important details.

Sincere question: How would a person know that?

I know the media is not to be trusted, as we recently saw first-hand with the Rodgers/airport/cancer patient debacle...but what half-truths? Can you correct some and source the correction? (Probably asking a lot, but...)

Hard to know what to think anymore. Since you called it smear, how would you characterize him? Is he just a harmless jerk, personally reckless but not a lawbreaker...an angel who's a victim of bad press? I'm curious how he is honestly perceived by you guys. Honestly. Obviously you're okay with whatever things he's done - is it that you just don't care, or really don't believe any of it? Or you believe some of it, and he's kind of on your personal opinion probation?
