I have been running Vista since B1 all the way through RC2 and I installed the final release of Ultimate last week or the week before(guess those thousands of dollars for our MSDN subscription are worth it  ). Been having a good time playing around with it's bells and whistles but have been having a heck of a time getting it to play nice with XP on a RUP based domain! It requires folder redirection and lots of other fun tweeks so that users can use both XP and Vista and still have their stuff follow them from machine to machine!

    :twocents:

Edit: Add to that i have been running Office 2K7 Pro for a few weeks as well and love it. Outlook has a little Acrobat plug in problem that you may have to disable until Macromedia/Adobe gets their stuff updated but all in all very cool.

WOW.......Didn't know that Trom had any bells.

    Hey Ryan
I just started playing with Vista on a test machine and it seems to be constantly accessing the hard drive.
I think its trying to use the hard drive for swap file, but I have 1 Gig of RAM and it should be enough shouldn't it?

I am running it on my laptop (a 6mo old Dell Latitude D520 1.6G DUO 1G RAM) and now my workstation at work - Dell OptiPlex GX620 3G HyperThreaded P4 1G and SATA HD) and haven't had any performance problems so far. What is your experience index number? Is the HD index low?

I downloaded the latest one just recently. I haven't installed it though. I had an early version of it and it was freaking awesome!

Since Beta did it get more system resource friendly with new updates?

Yeah vikes, I was talking about the WEI score.

It's ok on resources zero, it's running good on this machine at work. I have brought it up as my production box so we will see over the next week what new headaches I encounter. So far, so good.

Great!! another upgrade to resist as long as possible.

I have a lot of programing that can't work on XP. I always hope for some backward compatibility. It isn't that difficult. Some of the programs have a lot of usefullness and don't have replacements.

I now have a box of CD's of wanted but unuseable software. I hope for more than just selling useless software at a garage sale.

Anyone know how to get 4 or 5 year old software for Windows 98 to run on XP?
