I have a feeling this year the Vikings will implode...

favre has no respect for the coaching staff...
favre is purposely late (like it took him that long to decide. yeah right, if you believe that then you are a homer)
the O-line is looking like weaksauce, putting the viking's best player in danger.

    that's really all you need.

GB wins the NFC North. end of story.

I had the same feeling last year. Well, it was more of a wish than a feeling...

I just don't see how Favre can duplicate last year's performance, not with the bum ankle, and with every team knowing that they just need to cheapshot him, that he'll panic.

And, without stellar QB play, there's no way they win the division.

Anyone see Brent get mauled on like his 2nd play of the game last night? That was pretty funny. Defenses should do that to him a lot since he's not mobile. I still think their D is going to be top 5, teams will have to air it out to beat them, and no way is their offense going to put up the same numbers, even if Peterson has cured fumbilitis.

Favre hasn't exactly been "mobile" the past decade (almost) ... - And it's only the second PRE season game ...

    - Perhaps you shouldn't put too much emphasis on the pre-season ... - Lest you will most likely be just as disappointed as you were last season ... - You know last season where pretty much everyone had the Packers as a "sure-in" for the Super Bowl ? ... Much like this season ...

It's like deja-vu ... - Most people are saying the EXACT same thing about the Vikings as they did last season and almost the same about the Packers ...

It will be difficult for the Vikings to duplicate last seasons offensive numbers, however, don't be surprised if they will get close ... - the Vikings are fielding pretty much the same exact team as last season ...

I'm not saying the Vikings are a sure winner of NFC, however at this point I just don't see what other team in the North who will be able to beat them out of it ... - As much as the offense of the Packers is good, just as mediocre is the defense, and the ST is pretty much awfull ... Like it or not ... - Even without Favre the Vikings will probably still turn out to be the best team in the North ...

    - Perhaps you shouldn't make assumptions. In which way do you feel I was putting any type of emphasis on the pre-season? Please don't tell me what my expectations are. I was simply making a harmless prediction, but I seem to have offended you in some way. Would you like us Packers fans to be pessimists like yourself? I am always optimistic, and if you wanna be the pessimist, that's fine, to each their own.. you can go ahead and crown the Vikings division champs, but don't bring everyone else down with you okay?

    - You just said not to put any emphasis on the preseason, yet in your last paragraph you are doing just that by judging the offense, defense, and the special teams. Can you say... hypocrite?

    - Is no one supposed to make predictions in the pre-season?

    - Perhaps we should just close down the forums then?

You haven't offended me in anyway ... - However, I'm not a "pessimist", I'm just basing my arguements on what I saw last season and what I've seen, heard and read so far ...

Again, I'm NOT judging by the pre-season ... - I don't think there is a single NFL coach out there, who uses the preseason exhibition games for any thing other than to really just test the 2nd and 3rd stringers - And keeping the play calling pretty basic ... Save for the last pre-season game ...

    - You checked the Colts pre-season record for instance ?

The Packers haven't done anything (yet ... doubt they will) in terms of acquiring players to strengthen the defense in free agency ... - It's a good thing to be able to build through the draft, however, if you want to contend and make deep play off runs, raw (unrefined) talent won't cut it ... And as we all saw last season ... There is absolutely nothing wrong with the offense ... - However the defense and ST lost the games ...

Please tell me where I even hinted such a thing ... - Perhaps you shouldn't jump to conclusion and throw a minor temper-tantrum, just because someone happens to disagree with your assessment (sp?).

Oh my ... talk about showing signs of indignation ...

Are you serious? With Tarvaris Jackson at the helm of the Vikes, the Vikes would probably just about be the 3rd best team in the NFC North, let alone the best. He doesn't seem like a good leader to me...

I agree with you on that one ... - However, I think TJ's ineptness might have more to do with Childress conservative play-calling than TJ actually sucking as much as he apparently does ...

The Vikings still managed to win the NFC North previous to Favre's arrival ... Albeit it was with both Gus Ferotte and TJ ... And afterall ... TJ does seem to be a better QB than Rex Grossmann LOL - (but that isn't saying much ...)

And remember for the past 3 seasons the Vikings have improved their record with 2 more won games each season during Childress' tenure ... - People may hate and dislike the man, however he does seem to know how to assemble a contending team ...

Kind a like TT, but opposite ... - TT builds through the draft and seemingly doesn't think it's prudent nor necessary to acquire free agents to strenghten the team ... - However the "window" for success is narrowing and I doubt TT will still be GM if the Packers hasn't had a Super Bowl appearance within the next 2 (3 at the most) seasons ... - Provided the past and current strategy is continued ...

The only thing that matters in preseason is who got injured and how long will they be out. I expect the Vikings to be a contender this year with Bitch Fart at QB. He's a douchebag but he has a good arm. We'll see if other teams go after him this year. Seems to be the way to beat the Vikings.

My prediction is the Vikings are going to good. Hate to say it. But that is what I think. I'll be happy to be proven wrong though.

Can #4 repeat last year's performance on a bum ankle with every DC coming after him full-bore? I have my doubts. Favre isn't the most fleet of foot and it didn't take long for the 49ers to flatten him last night. Yes, we all thought he couldn't possibly play well at 40 last season but sooner or later even Brett Favre cannot escape Father Time. Every player hits the wall in the end. Will it come at 41? We will soon find out. Here's to Grandpa hitting the wall. ;-)

They kicked our *** last year twice. It was embarrassing in fact. So I will not be on here saying they are done. Until we beat them and beat them bad, we cant say ****. Jared Allen owned our *** last season twice, and he is still there and as good as ever. Brett can pull magic out of *** like anyone that has ever played the game. That wont change. I think in the end we will win the division but I dont expect a walk in the park.

Actually, teams focus on the 3rd preseason game. The 4th is just a glorified padded practice. Teams don't want anybody injuried a week before the season starts.

I can't think of teams that have had back to back winning seasons where they only went so far as the playoffs.
Doesn't mean that Minny won't repeat.
But I do think it will be hard for them, even tougher than last year with a burnt out QB who avoids training camp and whose teeth had to get pulled to come back, that player suffering from migraines, and a breakdown in morale with a coach that the QB doesn't respect.
And I think opposing d-fences will take a page from the Saints playbook and go after Fart and try to hit him and hit him hard.
    At least I hope so.
It's to early to stick a fork in the Vikings, but the fork is within reach.

    Which game did you mean?
    Are the Vikes on ESPN?
I think the Packers are on Thurs. night. Right?

And who is "jaws" and "corny?"

(Shows ya what a football fan I am. LOL At least I'm aware of Gruden's hard on for Brent. Someone posted a photo-shop job of him and Burnt in bed together on here last season.)

The only commentators I liked were Pat Summerall and John Madden. They made a good team and seemed humbled by everything.
Chris Collinsworth just talks too much. Or there's something I find annoying in his voice. Same with Bob Costas. Just seems like a "Mr. Know It All."

Kornheiser doesn't do MNF anymore. It's Tirico and Jaws. Yes, both are terrible.

yea, thats why i mentioned at least he isnt there. Kornheiser was THE WORST. but the current 3, including Gruden, are really bad. they make madden look good.

anyway...why isnt there an official game day thread yet?:big_boss:

All gruden does is talk about how much he loves random players. It gets so over board I think it needs its own drinking game.
