Were the Jets really that disappointing?

Since going 8-8, this is what covers all the sports media.

#1. Santonio Holmes is angry he didn't make the Pro Bowl.

Does Matthew Stafford care that he got snubbed? What about Darren Sproles? The Pro Bowl means absolutely nothing as far as talent goes when Vince Young made it back in 2009.

#2. Rex Ryan cried at the last press confrence.

I guess he needed some sympathy...

#3. The team "REALLY" thought they'd make the Super Bowl this year

and only NY fans and ESPN writers went along with it. They NEVER were a clear favorite, just ask the boys in Vegas how much they thought of the Jets this season.

#4. "How on earth does a team with all these stars not make the playoffs?"

Ask the Philadelphia Eagles, or better yet ask anyone in general if building a team on star power is the right thing to do so your head coach can brag and talk like he's a king that he's got this guy, and that guy, and this guy from everyone's fantasy football team. Better yet, go ask Dan Synder how it works, he's the fantasy football god of the NFL as far as building a team on star power.

#5. Greg McElroy says the team has "Selfish players"

Again, who really cares, like it's shocking when you have a WR bitching he didn't make the pro bowl., when he had a career low in receiving yards.

#6. "It ain't Sanchez fault, blame the offensive coordinator!"

You know....this reminds me of Rex's father; Buddy Ryan. In Houston he would blame every loss on the offensive coordinator (Kevin Gilbride) and was very critical of the Run and Shoot Offense, despite the fact they had success and made the playoffs very often with that offense. It just goes to the fact no one wants to admit Rex's defense DOES have problems, just blame it on the offense, even though your quarterback is average at best and sucks with all the star power around him.

I'm just so goddamn tired of hearing about the Jets. The media acts like they really were a Super Bowl favorite. It would be different if they were constantly covering New England or Green Bay for NOT making the playoffs (because the Packers/Patriots were the Las Vegas spread favorite) but why does this get so much attention? I'm glad the Jets went 8-8, hey remember before the season started and I said they'd be 8-8 or 9-7? I guess I was right. Rex Ryan fails just like his old man, and maybe that's why it's so funny. Hey Rex, you're kinda right....Norv Turner does suck as a coach, but you are no better.

The ego on this team, they deserved to lose, but why so much media attention? ESPN and all media coverage prove once again, how biased they are to the east teams. Who else went 8-8 and didn't make the playoffs? San Diego, Dallas, Philadelphia, Oakland, yet they don't get a million excuses like Rex Ryan's super ego team.

They were a pretty good team last year and regressed a lot. Even the D regressed which was a bit strange at times.

I don't think it's shocking they ended 8-8 and out of the playoffs but I do think the locker room has some cancers in it like some have reported. Then again Rex Ryan some claim is the biggest cancer of them all. Top defensive coach but he really does need to shut up at times. The offensive line got worse and so did the receivers. Sanchez is getting ruined and losing confidence by the game. They ask him to throw too many times too; I think he threw 59 times vs. the Giants. Where is the ground and pound they claim to follow and which is what carried them for a few seasons?

All the reports of the Jets maybe going after Peyton Manning are not suprising to me either. Rex adores Manning. What would shock me though is f by some reason the Colts cut ties with the Colts that he went to the Jets.

I will say though the Eagles could have won the East. They were excellent in the division and if had
not blown a few games are the 4th seed right now. Vince Young starting for several games doomed them though more then ever. Can't rely on Vick to stay healthy a whole season.

I still think the Jets problems was getting rid of Braylon Edwards, Jericho Cotchery and trying to replace those guys with just Plaxico.

Forget Edwards from this season, he was a break out in 2010, and most the time made Sanchez look better than he truly is. Jericho Cotchery was also a good WR, and guess where they let him go? He's in Pittsburgh now, that's a big mistake.

Rex will bring in anyone and everyone possible that has either A.) Had success against New England, B.) Hates New England or C.) Both, and that's exactly why Plaxico came into the future. They obviously thought someone straight out of jail would still be talented, but he was a big mistake trying to replace 2 of your best WR's from last season.

I wouldn't be shocked IF they did go after Peyton, because he has had the success against NE, and probably hates them, so that makes it 2 for Rex. I don't think Manning would want to play for him though, Rex has absolutely no class at all. When the Pack won the Super Bowl he said "We would have beat them had we made it that year" and the way he trashed Coughlin before the Giants blew them out made him look ridiculous. The way I see Manning, he's too classy to play for someone like Rex Ryan who is a big mouth.

And I don't see Peyton wanting to play in the NY market with his brother.

BTW the only reason some really believe Peyton may go there is because Tom Moore is on the Jets who was with the Colts for most of Peyton's career. Why they brought in Moore is beyond me. I suppose he was there to help develop Sanchez but he did a horrible job. And the Jets threw waaaaay too many times this year, possibly a Colts influence.

I really don't know what happens with Peyton. Never had a good feeling about this one. I am afraid he gets hit sometime next year and is done. It just never felt right to me. He might throw okay but it's not like dudes are going to be nailing him in practice.

And the Jets couldn't even make the playoffs for him. He must be devastated.

Yeah, if there are any fans who deserve to see a team win a SB, Ed is one of them.
I love the J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!! chant and how he leads it.
Sometimes I'll chant along with it when watching at home.

Well, I don't really care if the Jets made it or not, but it's nice to see REX have to eat his words.
