Vikings DE Ray Edwards, who has stated that he wants to break the NFL single-season sack record, hasn't been able to get on the field yet for this mini-camp. He missed another practice Saturday morning, with an undisclosed injury.....

    Yup.

He said he wanted to, and is working towards, breaking that sack record.

Note: He didn't guarantee it. I'm looking at you, Kitna.

Looking at Kitna's stats - hmm....
led the NFL in getting sacks two years in a row.

Oh, he did get his 10 wins!

    3 wins in '06.
    7 wins in '07.

    That's 10 wins. :D

Yup. He'll have a job as one lined up when he retires.

Personally I like it when players run there mouth's a bit.. more often than not they don't back it up and then they aren't so bold again..

Some, ala Kitna.. have no shame apparently.. Edwards needs to stay off the juice and focus on football.. otherwise it may be very hard to get the record from the sidelines.. Allen isn't taking off many plays and Brian Robison has shown that he can play in this league..

Edwards wasn't on the juice. He was suspended for taking supplements (like creatine, not steroids). And his positive test was in April of 2007, yet he wasn't suspended until the last quarter of the season. Kind of sucked with the timing, but that is how it goes.

In the end, Edwards broke the policy on banned supplements, whether intentionally or not, and served out a four game suspension for it. In doing so, he is also placed in to the NFL's accelerated testing program for I believe a full year. So I highly doubt he will be doing anything shady in 2008.

I agree that Robison has shown some promise, but his strengths lie in RDE. He is much better at pass rush than he is at run stopping and containment. So he wouldn't be competing for Edwards's spot anyway. I believe Mitchell is backing him up at LDE.

NP.. I use the term "Juice" loosely of course.. he was caught with something in his system that falls outside of the rules.. these guys have resources galore at their disposal from the teams staff.. there should be no issues of taking something that is banned.. if you aren't sure.. talk with the training staff..

On the Robison topic... I see him as a Kampman clone of sorts.. Aaron started out undersized and lacking enough to anchor that Elephant end of the LOS.. but both seem to be workers and over achievers of sorts.. I wouldn't be surprised one bit with the Williams boys and EJ in the middle that they don't go a little lite on the bookends at ends.. think of the possiblities will two speedy ends and the anchors in the middle...

Not sold on Edwards I guess.. more than anything else.
