If the first season using defensive coordinator Dom Capers' 3-4 scheme marked the transition year, the Packers are hoping the second will be one of growth.
Unlike 2009, this year when the Packers begin offseason workouts in mid-March they won't be working with a new coaching staff, learning a new scheme, and trying to perfect new techniques. They'll be looking to build on what they accomplished during the transition season, which was significant, but Capers doesn't believe the unit peaked in that first year by any means.
"I think we made an awful lot of progress this year, from Day 1 coming in and putting something brand new in, working our way through a few bumps in the road early in the year, and seeing guys play the second half of the year the way they played," Capers said in an extended Q & A session with reporters after the season ended.
